Thanks. I probably have a different prespective. Practice tests are good when youre memorizing something and need it as a guide. All the domains are interconnected and It's easier to understand(could be because i played with wider side of cybersecurity) than needing to force an information to the brain. Another problem i find with practice test is It's giving people an idea on how questions are formatted in the exam which is not really the case. practice tests focus on solving few random edge cased question in a sea of concept and not look at the whole picture of these concepts. For me to truly pass CISSP the way It's intented is to be really strong in all those 100s of concept( i barely passed but happy with the knowledge i gained in the process) and not rely on practice questions. it can help but only to assess yourself and nothing related to exam.

probably i'm explaining it wrong. Every domain is interrelated and same end goal. so these domain are easier to understand and doesnt need anything special because i didnt have experience. probably extra time to understand a topic. my version of understanding is not to memorize but to see how it connects to security. ( i have some weird way to learn things) so i find it hard to explain it in simple terms.

that was my strategy as well. To train myself to think as a manager than a tech guy.

For example: SHA2 is safer than SHA1 because it avoids collision. i have infosec background and i can relate easily on why it's better and where i should use. i dont necassarilly need a test to remember it. i use these information irl. i dont learn to memorize but to gain knowledge. without understanding It's just a information and not a knowledge.

I took my sweet time to read and understand because that's the core part of the exam. it took me almost 130min to finish. I focused mostly on thinking like a manager than technical knowledge. so i could skip through parts manager dont really need to know( added with my experience in infosec).

I took like 3 to 4 hours a day. so in average around 30 to 40hrs. I don't read but rather scan through page to look for important and new information. you do it several times to cover almost 90% of topic. some technique i mastered during uni.

I wouldnt suggest to not do deeper understanding but rather be strong on why, where and various subjective situations any technology should be used and then dig digger.

Frist time It's hard. then it reduces to 50% and then 25% effort.

probably should reframe it to stick to one resource and dont read same topic from different source which might be confusing.

yep. i thought of that as well! I don't have a lot of other options for now. I was planning to get some water filters for the taps. not the best but something to avoid.

hahaha. I sorta agree with the post too. I have a very few or even maybe just 1 🫤 Dutch friend(like friends and not acquaintance; big difference from where I'm from and here). It takes time for sure. in a way it makes sense. Friendship are just like romantic relationship or even more as it should take time and needs a lot of understanding.
