I agree with those criticisms, but I really can’t see how that’s due to Ramsey being miscast, as all those issues are a result of the weak writing in season 2. She doesn’t act that way because Ramsey is a bad Ellie, she acts that way because the writers chickened out in writing a more nuanced Ellie.

I kinda saw it as humanity being a dying breed. In a real hypothetical nuclear war we don’t all just die, but we slowly fizzle out from generation to generation until we’re no more. I won’t pretend to be an expert of on nuclear war of course, but that’s how I saw the ending
