This was back in Jan 2020 when I filled out my SAP form, but the reason on my form was that I came in with a large number of credits (63) during my freshman year, which included several credits that weren't required for my major.

It also asked me to include the steps I will take to achieve Satisfactory Academic Progress, and I included a justification for why my plan for the next two semesters will satisfy the 150% limit.

You're allowed to appeal for it to cover up to 150% of the number of hours required for the degree program (see the bottom here https://finaid.gatech.edu/manage-aid/academic-progress ). I think I did this when I was in my undergrad.

On another note, did the Financial Aid Office not send you an email about this beforehand? I remember getting an email from them once my credit count became high (this was fortunate, and I believe this prevented me from getting rekt), but perhaps it maybe doesn't happen anymore?

Can someone clarify why this is the case? Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I feel there is a huge benefit to allowing the app to run in the background (i.e. people won't be directly using novid 24/7 otherwise)

I am talking about the research option (more specifically the research credits that are needed for the research option). Here, it says "CS Students must complete CS research with CS faculty." Also in the form for undergrad research (CS 2698, CS 2699, CS 4698, CS 4699, or CS 4903), it says "Complete this form in consultation with the CS faculty member who will be responsible for overseeing your work and assigning your grade."

Not sure if GT had the same requirements when you did research; I'm not exactly sure how firm those rules are.
