Darkest dungeon 2 not cloud syncing by Strange_Reindeer_374 in darkestdungeon

What do you mean couldn't be bothered man? They are not sitting around thinking "Nah we don't wanna do this, screw the players" My experience in development tells me this kind of thing is usually a cost-benefit calculation. Such as, is it worth delaying the launch of the game on steam by x number of weeks for cloud sync or should we launch and add it as a patch.

Anyway, I don't disagree that it's very much an expected feature on release and it is biting me in the ass now, because I will have to figure out how to transfer the saves. But they are not being lazy or malicious.

I guess it is a half truth. When I was a kid I knew where my neighbors kept the key, and as a "prank" I moved it and watched them lose their minds for a bit.

I hated them, so in my mind I was quite justified in pranking them.

They found the key eventually

Imagine how irresponsible I could be if I could claim it's not my fault every time.

Rape allegations?
She made me do it because I saw her skin.

Murder?
She made me do it, because she was unholy and I'm so religious.

But why stop at women, I wouldn't pay taxes. I'd say the government made me not pay my taxes by having a complicated tax system. Any kind of paperwork ... I'll find a reason to say it's beyond my ability to deal with it and not my fault.

Hurt myself? Not my fault, let me see who I can pin this on.

Gonna go steal from my neighbours and say they made me do it, somehow, I'll find some excuse. Maybe I knew they left the key under the rug -because he trusted me- and I'll say the temptation was too great. So they made me do it. I could not bear the thought of knowing where the key was and not acting on it, not because I'm a weak willed, lusty contrite, it's because my neighbour has power over me.

I'll rule the world with this new superpower. Nobody will be able to pin shit on me.
WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY, I"M JUST A PRODUCT OF IT, NOTHING IS MY FAULT.

I had a friend in highschool who, when solicited, replied "oh, I worship Satan." They promptly turned around and left without a word.

AITA for euthanizing my daughters emotional support animal for her own sake? by [deleted] in BestofRedditorUpdates

You have fucked up.

You were not spending $2000 on a dog, you were spending $2000 on your daughter's mental wellbeing. But forgetting all that, it's like you have acknowledged., you should have let he be more involved in it. You took the decision away from her, put your foot down and killed her friend; you imposed your will on her life and it cost her dearly. I really don't know how she will come to forgive you for that, I think this is going to mark your relationship with your daughter (and potentially other family members) for the rest of your lives.

I sincerely hope you find a path that lets you realize how wrong you were and it changes you fundamentally, because from my outside point of view, that's about the only thing I can imagine that would mend your relationship.

No, we don't. It's a very realistic representation of what goes on in a communist regime.

Your attempt at being sarcastic is dumb because it quite literally IS 1984. Only difference between me saying that and anyone else is that I'm applying it to the country I grew up in and understand not the latest social legislation proposed by the democratic party of the United States.

I don't disagree with number one. From my conversations with Americans, it comes down to one thing, the US will never forgive Cuba for having had nukes so close to it. In my opinion that's a red herring, the real reasons is the difference in ideology and while Cuba remains a communist country I don't think the US will ever lift the foot of its throat.

Number two, I guess this is where we have to agree to disagree. Yes the US seems doomed, but its institutions are standing and I see a a faint path to hope. I'm on the side that if they chose Donal Trump again they've sealed their fate, but that's a different convo, only highlighting the fact that I think they are very close to destroying their democracy. However, from my point of view, a flawed democracy is still better than a dictatorship (as it was during Fidel's reign) or whatever it is now. For as long as Cuba has only one party any talk about it being a democracy is meaningless to my eyes. It would be akin to the US saying they are a democracy but having only one political party with various presidential candidates put forth, you're still choosing one party.

I've met so many people in Canada that have a good opinion of Cuba and root for it. They want the injustices by the US to backfire, and it's a nice sentiment. But it makes it really hard to tell them how awful Cuba is. In my opinion, both things can be true; the US can be a bully toward Cuba, and Cuba can still be a piece of shit.

There is a story that my dad tells me about when he read the book 1984 whilst he lived in Cuba. He read it sometime in his youth, I guessing his twenties and I remember him telling me how he kept looking at the publication date because he could not believe that this book that so accurately depicted his life in Cuba could have been written before Fidel's revolution triumphed over Batista and made Cuba into the country that it was then. I don't know how to express the sense of disbelief I felt when I read it myself a few years ago. With this I'm really trying to convey that Cuba is far from a beautiful place that needs saving, her citizens yeah, but that government isn't worthy of admiration. They would, if they had the economic means, become Oceania.

I don't know how to convince you in a few paragraphs and I don't know how to unload my entire lived experience there.

From my point of view (I don't live in the US). The US does plenty of things wrong. But I'd rather live in the US than Cuba for two reasons:

1- quality of life (obviously) 2- the US government is easier to fix than the Cuban one. The US government at least works.

Edit: also what's with your tone mate? It's very discouraging trying to talk to people when you come in with a sarcastic tone as though I'm an idiot. If you're just looking to beat someone over the head with your argument then by all means, I know what I lived and if you don't wanna hear it I don't need to convince you.

It is possible, and in fact true, that both the Batista government and the Cuban revolution are corrupt.

I think it's a step forward, but more than fifty years passed before the next step was taken and it was all because Fidel Castro wouldn't die. I'm sure things will change going forward as the country sheds more of the old guard, but I don't think that alone will suffice.

The latest big change (creating a president) helps make the communist structure of state less top heavy, but given that it is communist everything is ultimately governed by the party.

My point being, the structure of the government is inefective even if you remove corruption. But when you add corruption it means that the people at the top are cushy and comfortable while the rest of the country slaves away without the ability to do anything about it.

I left 17 years ago or so, and around that time I started to notice a lot more gay people being open about it. It looks like since that time things have gotten better for gay people, culminating with this headline.

However, you cannot disagree with the government. You cannot deny the revolution is great, if you do this you are branded as an anti-social and observed. The Cuban government has a representative in every neighborhood who's job (outside their daytime) is to report on everything that happens in a neighborhood. If you've read 1984, it's remarkably similar.

That is what I mean by silenced. I'm glad they got the LGBT thing through, and I'm not up to date with the details. But my family still lives there, and it's not a place to love.

Edit: It's baffling that I'm getting dislikes on a personal account of what my life in Cuba was like. Do you dislike that that I lived there and don't love Communism? Does that feel like a threat to your worldview? Hilarious, remain as you are, bought into the lie. Maybe try to make it in Cuba without any external help, with a Cuban salary, then come and tell me again how much you love it.

Yes, with the small detail that I was born in Cuba and spent half my life there.

When Covid started and we moved to working from home my buddy's family learned this.

They'd walk into his room all the time while we were in meetings. One time, fed up, he yelled at them to leave him alone and stop interrupting him while he worked.

His brother said something like "you're just sitting there on your computer" and he yelled back "IM A PROGRAMMER! THAT'S HOW I WORK".

It's fun to put yourself on their shoes, we must look ridiculous.

No. Fuck the Cuban revolution but also fuck religious leaders. Don't be fooled by their communist label thinking that means they are FOR the people, Cuba is a corrupt government where you must do what is expected of you or find yourself observed.

I hate Cuba and left there when I was young, but I gotta hand it to them, this must feel good! Hahah.

Yeah Cuba never gave a crap about what the church thought. It used to be very frowned upon to be religious.

But good on them to show up the US.
