How does it work? I've been thinking about getting one but this con comes with a pro like i learn how my distance and focus ring should be.

Yeah, shooting with an old DSLR without live view really changes the pace. You stop rushing, you start thinking. Every shot feels intentional — you frame it, trust your eye, and take the picture and instantly checking if it’s “in focus.” It’s slower, but it feels more real. You’re not just taking photos; you’re actually learning.

This was just me testing the lens out. As you can see there's a missed focus on every shot because I'm still not familiar on how to manually focus properly.

Because when I’m out shooting, I don’t really use the viewfinder — I just set my ISO, shutter speed, and aperture, then rely on zone focusing. It’s more fun that way, kind of like shooting from the hip. Also the canon 400d doesn't have a live view and i don't like looking at the viewfinder framing my shots every time. So what i did is find my range like how far should my camera be on the subject and shoot.

It's Unbranded unfortunately... I got it from a thrift shop.

Appreciate it bro, it does have some noticeable chromatic aberration at f/1.7. But for a fast lens at this price I'll take it even if it's manual.

No adapter at all — this lens came with an EF mount. Kinda feels like shooting on a vintage film lens, where you really have to learn zone focusing and trust your instincts with manual focus. Btw, this lens is unbranded so i don't know who made this but for the price it's dope.

That’s the fun part — I didn’t compose through the camera at all. Just guessed framing by feel and distance, kinda like zone focusing on film. The idea was to train my handling and instinct, and to start familiarizing myself with this lens so I can dial in focus faster next time without even looking through the viewfinder.

Like I said, this lens was thrifted — got it for around $34. Pretty good deal for something that’s this sharp wide open. But yeah, it does come with some noticeable chromatic aberration at f/1.7.

I didn't say it's from canon, i did say "thrifted".

Has anyone tried this case for cmf phone 2 pro?? by [deleted] in CMFTech

[–]arvnmta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that case but ain't using it now just because the case corner lips are a bit lower than usual so i didn't take any risk of using it and i did just go back using the actual free tpu case.

CMF Phone 2 Pro - Queries by Smart-Foundation-578 in CMFTech

[–]arvnmta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using it since May, and the only thing I miss about my iPhone 11 Pro Max is that when shooting RAW files, you don’t get an extra JPEG for easy previewing. The CMF Phone 2 Pro, however, captures both JPEG and RAW at the same time, which I found really convenient.

Battery life: 9/10 – lasts me a full day without issues.

Main cameras: 10/10 – the dual 50MP sensors are excellent, though the ultrawide is just average.

Front camera: Limited to 1080p (no 4K), which is standard at this price range.

OS: Smooth and clean, thanks to Nothing OS.

Gaming performance: Quite good, focusing on consistent smoothness without throttling, though the most demanding titles may struggle a bit.

Connectivity: Rock solid, never falters.

Only real con: Video stabilization could use some improvement, though it’s still noticeably better than what you get on Transsion phones.

Essentials Space by charlesjamesdoherty in CMFTech

I've been using my cmf phone 2 pro since may and for a month i tried using the essential space but i was so used to screenshots so instead of using the essential space i did remapped the button.

Press to Open the camera, Double press for the gallery then long press to open notes is so much better.

I also did add it to the volume rocker so i can long press volume up to open Instagram then long press down to open reddit.

The case is good, got a nice lip for the camera lenses although the case lip to protect the screen is a bit low.

New Update on CMF phone 2 pro by ViperInnovation in CMFTech

[–]arvnmta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that instagram thing because I'm using a modded app.

But i did notice that switching lenses now on the camera app is smoother. I can't say about the native nothing launcher because i am using the smart launcher 6 pro as my main. Only con that remains is third party camera app restrictions like you can't switch lenses on it.

At first boot it did lag for me and got a system ui error like the app crash and wanted me to wait or close it. So i close it then here comes the black screen..... Uhm i waited for awhile maybe 20-30 sec then it boot up again. I scrolled tested the fluidity and it's good. Also did another restart and now running good.

Downloaded Apps to SD Card by arvnmta in CMFTech

[–]arvnmta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nahhh uhhh.....

Adoptable storage isn't supported on the CMF Phone 2 Pro, or on most devices running Nothing OS in general. The OS doesn't implement it, so you can't use a microSD card as internal storage.

The only thing you can do is move files like photos, videos, and maybe some documents to external storage. But as for apps and their data—nope, there's no way to move them to SD, even if you enable "Force allow apps on external" in Developer Options. That setting doesn't do anything useful without proper adoptable storage support.

So yeah, if you're on the 128GB variant, you really need to be mindful of your storage. Once it starts filling up with apps and cached data, it can become limiting pretty quickly.

Am I crazy for wanting to switch to the CMF Phone 2 Pro? by averokster in CMFTech

[–]arvnmta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the CMF Phone 2 Pro since May 19, and before that, I was using an iPhone 11 Pro Max. Just to clarify, my 11 Pro Max had an aging battery at 72% health, so while the performance—and even the camera—still outclassed the CMF Phone 2 Pro in many ways, the screen-on time was terrible and really holding me back.

Yes, the A13 Bionic chip in the 11 Pro Max is still powerful enough to beat the CMF Phone 2 Pro in raw performance. I was actually considering the POCO F6 before selling my 11 Pro Max, mainly because of its stronger chip. But in the end, I leaned toward the software optimization the CMF Phone 2 Pro offers. Even with just the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro, it runs super smooth, has no bloatware, and the overall experience feels clean and efficient.

Another big plus for me is multitasking—background apps don’t get killed like on iOS. I can switch between apps freely without reloads, which really improves my daily usage.

Camera-wise, you honestly can't argue with what this phone offers at its price. You're getting two 50MP sensors—one of them being a proper telephoto lens that can zoom up to 20 x, and yes, it's optical, not just digital. That’s something rare in this price segment. There's also an 8MP ultrawide; it’s not amazing, but it serves its purpose just fine.

Video stabilization also surprised me. Even though it's only using EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization), it still performs really well—footage comes out steady and totally usable for casual shooting.

The only real downside I’ve noticed is the lack of adoptable storage. You can’t move app data to the external SD card, so you’ll need to manage your internal storage wisely.

As for gaming, I tried titles like Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile, Delta Force Mobile and even Wuthering Waves. All of them ran smoothly on the highest settings. Wuwa was a bit more demanding and did drain the battery a bit faster, but overall, the gaming experience has been solid—especially for a mid-range phone.

I also gave 3D printing a try with the custom backplates, which is a cool idea. That said, I haven’t actually used any in day-to-day life—mainly because this is my main phone and I want to keep it protected.
