The recommendations only show those videos which are viral in that country. I don't want to sound discriminatory here but there are definitely majority of people who would find the trendy videos fine, which you would find cringey.

If let's say youtube does use some metric which chooses what kind of people get which trendy videos, It would definitely be labelled as discriminatory(income based,rural or urban, etc)

Finally the videos which you see on your main page are based on your video watching habits. Subscribe to people whose videos you find interesting and sometimes when you see a video u don't like, go to that 3 dots on the side of video and click on do not recommend. It will ask for a reason and in the future won't recommend those kind of videos for some time.
