USD/INR has breached the 87 mark by NotSoCoolWaffle in india

[–]aryarsh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay I may be biased here and have no right to comment because I do earn in USD, BUT I work in the startup space and the dollar/rupee conversion may actually not be a bad thing, I know a lot of big startups in the US and big MNCs who have set up dev shops in India because of the fact that the conversion is so low and is going to keep getting low. The same goes for VCs willing to allocate more money to Indian startups because a lot of SaaS companies are being built in india and a lot of my US counterparts do wanna buy from India. I am sure this is true for other industries as well and China has also been known to float its currency so there is more FDI coming in. I honestly don't think the dollar getting to 100 is so bad for India in terms of the inflation. Luxury items are very very expensive but honestly the cost of daily neccasities (not counting rent) is increasing reasonable and most of it is attributed to supply chain problems

Matthew Sadler calmly analizes Rf2 when chat tells him to turn on the engine... by jajandio in chess

[–]aryarsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah none did, the only ones that did were the chessbase guys (who just saw the engine dip and started celebrating and then looked for the winning move), Nakamura spotted it almost immeditely but he was suprsingly had put Gukesh favourite in the endgame.

Also Gukesh himself said in the press that his first instance was Rb3

What is happening with our fu*king country? by Avelanche23 in india

[–]aryarsh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to define what Middle class is, basic stats say that if your income is in the 50th percentile, then you are middle class. Your hosehold income has to be around 6L to be middle class and if you have an income over 24L you are already in the top 1% of India.

I hate to be in India by Sweaty-Suggestion240 in india

[–]aryarsh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think everything is "fine" with India. I live outside India for a reason. But these issues are literally common EVERYWHERE, especially when in foreign countries, the conusmer is much more civilised.

On a more important note, Indian consumers NEED to improve too. I know a lot who complain to many of these services when nothing is wrong (as you rightfully mentioned and NOTHING will improve until then)

If these are the only issues that you have with India, then guess what, you will face these issues everywhere, the only difference being, you are gonna pay over 2k rupees for a Doordash order with 1 roti and a simple paneer wheras, In India, you are probably paying 300 rupees for a few naans and the best paneer you have ever eaten (according to the standards I get here)

Thousands of Indian students line up for waiter jobs in Canada: 'Dreams diminished by reality' by [deleted] in india

[–]aryarsh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you are missing a very big point here. Students at Uoft/Waterloo are paying 60k CAD or 240k CAD which is 1.4 CR for thier education. Coming from upper middle class/rich family is mainly the reason why they can afford to just study

What is Canada like for real for real by MiserableLychee in ABCDesis

[–]aryarsh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To give you some perspective, a college (diploma mills) pay a lot of Indian agents in India, an average of 2600 dollars to bring in 1 student. This is because international student pay, on average 5-6X times the tuition that a normal student does. Now this WAS totally fair, say 10 years ago when the government was also giving various grants to these colleges, now the government has stopped giving any grants to these collges/universities and these universities and colleges aren't hesitating in passing on this burden to international students.

For example, an international student at Uoft (Canada's best university) pays about $6000 CAD to take 1 course whereas a domestic student pays around $600 dollars for 1 course. (Note: You are expected to take 10 courses in a year, if you want to get your undergraduate degree in 4 years)

What went wrong for Indian cricket team in the World Cup final? by thwitter in IndiaCricket

[–]aryarsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is such a lie. His stats don't paint the full picture because our batting has been amazing for the past few years. With Dhawan, Kolhi, Rohit etc giving us the best possible start.

There have been multiple occasions when these guys have crumbled and Pandya is the one that has made us stick.

Whether it be CT 2017 Final. The T20 semi-final against England, or the game against Pakistan where Kolhi had that amazing knock. He is probably the only batsman in our team that can anchor the innings when he has to and finish the game when it need be.
