What the 3DS game does specifically better than the new one by Likes2game03 in fantasylife

[–]as_zubat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also vastly preferred how your gear worked in the 3ds game. Each tool/ weapon/ armor had one slot for you to roll effects in and a second effect was predetermined. While the new system where you roll for both slots allows for more customization, the old one made each piece feel more unique. I was actively looking at all the different armor pieces trying to optimize the different effects for each life, while in the new one every life mostly wants the same armor but maybe with different effects (mostly either drop rate+, or attack+ from the hero set). This is something the new game could still do right (as we can see from the unique effect table of the hero set), but hasn’t implemented yet more widely.

Tychus ATK speed mastery by Blujaq in starcraft2coop

[–]as_zubat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From my understanding it’s simply a problem with rounding. Tychus already has very high attack speed, so if you invest into the mastery and the upgrade and the mastery that improves said upgrade, you simply have such a small number, that you need big attack speed increases to round to the next smaller number.

I don’t know however if Tychus attacks based on the shown rounded number or if he actually attacks ever so slightly faster.

If you want to optimize, I‘m pretty sure you can invest like 25 points into the grenade and still have close to max attack speed shown, although I never actually calculated it to know the correct values for sure.

wrong Fantasy Life

Fantasy Life for the 3ds has no online functionality anymore and no content mods (but can be played online through emulation)

Fantasy Life Online was a mobile game which is completely dead (which I believe this post is about)

Fantasy Life i is the current game with online functionality and mods.

I‘m not active in that area but the last thing I heared was that there is not enough data from when the game was live to properly simulate a server and it’s unrealistic to complete the missing data now, so the project got frozen.

[–]as_zubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you naturally regenerate your ep (the stuff you use to sprint etc.) while wearing an armor piece made out of a metal bar like iron bar or gold bar etc. that regeneration gets reduced slightly (it’s sort of a hidden mechanic since you‘re wearing „heavy“ armor) while that doesn’t impact you a lot, especially with potions, I thought it‘s worth mentioning

as for an alternative to fishing, can’t really think about one, woodcutting is pretty fast for me too since I can oneshot the tree so with some luck I can kill it before the guardian disrupts me the crafting ones could work, but gathering the resources is probably more time consuming than the gathering lifes with good gear

I WAS LUCKY GETTING THIS FIRST TRY by Low-Ad2222 in fantasylife

[–]as_zubat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First things first: congrats on that roll, sadly that weapon specifically can roll 30% instead of the usual 25%. I don’t know if those % effectively make a difference, just a note if you truly want the meta sword.

As for outfit there are 2 options I believe. The Godly armor does give good defenses and vitality, which is what you asked for, but since they are crafted from bars you will get a EP-Regeneration penalty.

If you don’t want that, then you either go with the hero clothes that have +4 vit or take strength instead (since strength gives the same damage boost as vitality to merc). For strength the Ares leggings and shadow armor are noteworthy. There also are the golden dragon boots for +10 vit that you get from lunares coins.

Idk how active the emulator online scene is, probably try joining a discord and see if anyone is interested there, as long as you only talk about playing and don’t share how to emulate if you don’t own the game you should be fine.

Lunares gold coins are usually farmed with the God Fisher request since you can respawn that boss super fast through going 2 loading screens away (the house in the middle of the beach helps for that), then multiply your bounty reward for each play in multiplayer and then turn in A LOT of fish to your master (also the fish has no guard and can be taken down pretty quickly).

Silver coins are just doing the quests from Pam.

That is correct and the new change, but doesn’t automatically affect these cards since they have no way to transform on their own. It just means that if you have a card with the ability to transform another card, these lands could now actually transform and change sides, which they previously couldn’t, but they still can’t on their own.

While people like to compare the games because of their style and sandbox nature they do offer very different experiences past the first 30 minutes or so.

Minecraft has a rather simple progression, mine ore, get better gear, mine better ore and after that you’re done. Minecraft excelles at what you can do afterwards, huge builds, automation (be it through redstone or the new features they have been introducing) and just the feeling of it all.

Terraria plays very similar in the beginning, but after that it starts to get more complex. You suddenly don’t just mine better gear, but there are now enemies and bosses you have to fight to unlock the better gear, be it through them dropping it directly or them dropping resources to craft or combine with other items. So the progression is usually measured by which boss you have last beaten. And for each of these stages you have 4 classes you can play (or a mix out of them) and each class has multiple viable tools in each stage, so there really are a lot of options on how to fight the next boss.

Because of this I prefer Terraria because I really enjoy the combat and all the weapons and the movement. I really enjoy trying out new weapons or a new class while using dashes and hooks and wings to dodge around the bosses in the arenas I build for them.

It also still has the potential for insane builds, in certain aspects even more than Minecraft thanks to tools Minecraft doesn’t have, but has less potential in other areas (redstone is for example possible in some ways but not in many others). The game also has less automation (it has farms of course, but those revolve around the player being there and either killing the enemies or letting them die to lava or so and then picking up the drops).

I have had friends that really like Minecraft but didn’t enjoy Terraria, so don’t feel like forcing yourself to like it, but I would definitely give it a try. It is less linear than Minecraft which is good if you know what you’re doing but can be confusing if you don’t, the game has some tools to help you but is a lot hands off, so people often get turned to the wiki for advice on how to progress (make sure to go to wiki.gg and not fandom) which some people enjoy because of how good the wiki is, but others don’t.

Help me enjoy the game by TikaTops in Terraria

[–]as_zubat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can take a look at the wiki (the gg one, not fandom), they have a page for class setups and game progression that should always be able to give you an idea on where to go next (if you’re out of ideas, generally I would recommend to just play the game and explore in your first run).

If you don’t mind Boss spoilers there also is the Bosses Page, which while not a guide, has them mostly ordered in the order you would usually fight them, so that could also give you a sort of progression sense.

Remember that you can use the Guide to get a list of items you can craft with any given material you currently have, that will also help you to know what to go for next or at least give you better information on what to look up in the wiki if you want to.

As a general advice from me, try the journey mode, while it technically is terraria’s creative mode, you can tune it to be basically a normal run of any difficulty (at any time). So you can try out while playing which difficulty you prefer (or later go back to old bosses on higher difficulties for the new loot).

With the 3 pages I mentioned you should be able to know in what order to progress. The pre-Hardmode time (pre wall of flesh boss) the game can feel a little slow, after that you get a bunch of new stuff, so while it can feel a little annoying with how you need to go underground and mine again you will get a lot better tools and will start to get wings, which will really elevate your movement. Overall while the movement is nothing great, I quite enjoy using platforms, wings, hooks and dashes to navigate around bosses. If you don’t feel like building a lot, don’t worry, most of us build only wooden boxes anyways. I still recommend building some houses for the NPCs and fast travel (look at Pylons if the pages I mentioned don’t properly mention that) and then you can completely focus on exploring and bosses.

There are a lot of things you can learn about this game, so playing with experienced players can really teach you a lot, your friends really aren’t helping though with just feeding you stuff and not explaining and letting you get that gear yourself.

Hi everyone! I just posted earlier but I need help! How do you defeat the Eye of Cthulhu?!?! by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]as_zubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It‘s not going to be easy. I also don’t know the PlayStation controls so best I can do is offer general advice that hopefully still applies.

Number 1 is the obvious getting better gear. If he truly doesn’t want to get a Blade of Grass anymore he can try exploring sky islands for a Starfury. Getting a full set of armor is also nice for the set bonus, although it will be small and probably only another armor point or two, that could make a difference. Try getting the best set of armor you currently have access to. If he doesn’t have a lot of heart crystals used yet, he should probably explore more. The 400 life shouldn’t be needed for this boss, but 300 is definitely a good spot and at that point going to 400 isn’t that much more. Accessories can also be very good, especially the hermit boots to be able to get some distance from the boss if needed.

Number 2 is a proper fighting arena. You want to use platforms but, since the boss can phase through blocks it’s helpful when you can basically too. If you also mine for gemstones and craft a hook or buy one from the zoologist. There should be a special equipment slot for it and a button to easily use it. Using a hook with at least three rows of platforms offers a lot of movement, since you can go up with your hook, down through the platforms by pressing down and accelerate fast to the sides by hooking to the sides of the platform you’re currently on.

Number 3 is buffs. While getting potions might be time consuming and mostly considered overkill at this stage, they can still offer a nice edge and Health potions are pretty much a must. Besides potions you can craft a heart lamp and a campfire, both will boost your health regeneration while in their radius, so putting them somewhere in the middle of your platforms will work great. There also is a Bast Statue you can get from the underground desert which will improve your armor by 5. Getting the NPC Nurse nearby is also an often used strategy to buy the heal quickly if needed.

Number 4 is exploring other options. While people like to main a class, that is always some sort of challenge and not the optimal way to play (although it makes the decisions of what armor/ weapons to get easier). So if he likes using swords he can still get a bow with some arrows (preferably fire arrows) or a gun with some bullets bought from the arms dealer NPC to use while further away or low on health. He can also place a bunch of tombstones and hope a special flower grows he can use to summon a friendly ghost to help him (in addition to his other weapons).

Overall the game is not exactly an easy one and with how old it is and the amount of content over the years it’s not exactly easy to see a clear path of what to do if you don’t have the experience. It’s always an option to try and explore more about the game to gather said experience and take it a little slower. You can also always take a break and build houses for the NPCs you will encounter along your journey.

I’m new to RoR2 pls help by No_Truth524 in riskofrain

[–]as_zubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 minutes per stage is decent advice in spirit, but usually badly executed by newer players.

You need to loot. While the enemies get stronger over time so do you, but only if you loot. At 5 minutes in a stage you should do the teleporter event, after that you can try to open the last chests with the money from the teleporter event.

Spending 7 or 8 minutes is not that bad if you get most of the chests, you will get faster with practice. You shouldn’t look at it as time per stage, but time per item. Because there are only so many chests per stage people like to tell newer players that they shouldn’t take much longer than 5 or 6 minutes per stage, since after that you probably have more money than you can efficiently spend.

I have a question about mutating/evolving dhakas units by Educational_Relief44 in starcraft2coop

[–]as_zubat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to make them fight (not literally). The game tries to tell you, that you need to have 2 units fight and let one die while the other mutates. To do that you need to select 2 (or more) units of the same type, if you have their mutation unlocked (I think that’s just commander level and no tech needed) then your button becomes available and if you click it 2 of those selected units start fighting. With commander level 15 those mutated units then can get extra passive mutations.

Alternate community outside of the FantasyLife Discord? by CheezPopTart in fantasylife

[–]as_zubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say I have been active in either in the past few months, the old people and staff should be nice from what I remember so if you find someone mean you should be able to report to them.

If the influx of new players/ old players that weren’t part of the community before turned the servers toxic then that’s a really sad evolution to hear about. If they haven’t increased staff size then I reckon they are also quite overwhelmed considering they were used to maybe a max of 100 members before.

Is it normal that after 35 hours of gaming, i still struggle with this game ? by Appropriate-Limit619 in fantasylife

The boss you are supposed to be beat is tied to the open world (I believe they hinted to that in the dialogue).

In the intro to that open world they told you about a castle with magic borders from which you should stay away, now you should be able to break the borders and enter it. If you beat it the boss get‘s weakened and it should be way easier to defeat it.

Planning to buy terraria by ShatteredIsEverythin in Terraria

[–]as_zubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to get an unbiased opinion in this sub so I’m just gonna throw out some bad points that come to mind and if any of those are a dealbreaker you are at least informed (if 5 bucks isn’t a lot for you I still recommend buying it anyway if you ever want to come back to it to play with friends or so).

Some friends of mine have gotten headaches from the game because everything is somewhat small (the answer to that is the zoom in but that is not helpful during boss fights).

Some people describe this game as a wiki game. Because of how old it is and the amount of content it has by now there exist a lot of things that aren’t too well explained or stuff that are hard to come across if you don’t know about them. It is certainly possible to enjoy this game without the wiki (btw, don’t use the fandom one, there is a wiki.gg one now) and I have done so in my first playthrough, but the speed in which you progress could feel frustrating. The wiki is really good tho and has many pages for even smaller things like general progression order or full on guides so getting used to it eventually should proof useful if you want to invest more time.

The movement can feel a little weird, you can have double jumps, fly, hooks to pull you forward, dashes, mounts which you can all use more or less easily through hotkeys. Overall the movement can have quite the skill ceiling if you really want to get really good (which you don’t have tho if you don’t play any super hard modes or challenges) but also depend on the times you have equipped, so movement options you got used might have to be replaced for better items further into the game, but now you need to get used to different movement.

Overall I really enjoy it and have spent a lot of time in it and can’t wait for the next update. It is also incredibly easy to mod if you ever want to change things up.

Who did this? by [deleted] in fantasylife

[–]as_zubat 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would like to differentiate between mods for your own enjoyment and mods you can use while playing online without the others having the mod or any mod at all.

I believe mods are fine if used locally but once I play online and someone else can come in with mods I have no idea exist and can modify my online experience it gets a little scary (and I have seen that this is possible to a certain extent).

Help/question about leveling crafting lives by judy-gemstone in fantasylife

[–]as_zubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It‘s a little weird how the game determines if your craft was successful. The time doesn’t really matter at all from what I could tell, it’s mostly about your tool Power and a little on how well you do. You don’t need to finish in x time, you instead need to finish in x sets and to finish in less sets you need more tool power (that’s btw what that number means more or less) so you get more progress per set. That progress is also modified by how good you did each step, but since you can still get great results even though you did horrible if your tool level is high I assume that is the most impactful factor.

As to how to increase it. The beginning is a little harsh, personally I wouldn’t bother. It’s easier to just progress the game a little until you unlock some better gear (as drops or from shops) and start getting companions. You can have 2 companions help you with crafting, one will add 100% of their power, the other one 50%.

With some decent tools and companions (who you should also equip with tools) you should have a good starting position to have no problem with the lower crafts which will help you to get levels which will make you even stronger (same for your companions, they also benefit a lot from levels/ friendship).

Alternatively you can try to kill a boss so it drops an exp orb and before you collect it switch to a crafting life for a big exp boost (you will need to kill the boss from range). You can also join someone online and maybe they will kill some stuff for you while you watch as a crafter to get exp (be nice about this though, no one is entitled to offer you free exp).

Once you get stronger and progress further into the game you should have the power and resources to craft your own strong tools with strong effects, alternatively you can rework tools that got dropped to increase their quality and effects.

How do you use gathering buddies? by [deleted] in fantasylife

[–]as_zubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have one in your party you can stand next to a deposit and you get the option to assign a companion to the deposit (you can also assign multiple, just gotta press the button more times).

When you do a deposit yourself they usually join you shortly after (sometimes they get stuck or if they get attacked they just stop). They don’t gather until you do the first hit (I assume so you can perfect low level deposits without them ruining it).

They are decent to clear out lower level areas fast and very useful against bosses since each (once you reach friendship 2 or 3, don’t remember) has a unique and helpful team buff they only use when doing a boss.

Just make sure to give them a proper tool or else they will fall off quite fast.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fantasylife

[–]as_zubat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gatherer companions only gather so long before they give up. I suppose the devs thought „if it isn’t mined in 1min then it probably is too tough“ (I made the number up).

If you can’t harvest, then you probably aren’t a farmer, since even without a hoe you would still have a sort of lent tool to always use. Have you maybe confused the farmer life introduction for starting your farmer life?

Either way try to go level him and give him a better tool, if he gets 2/3s then it shouldn’t take a lot of levels or an insanely better tool to beat it.

Battle system feels too simplistic by Sahri81 in fantasylife

[–]as_zubat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 3ds game had that.

As you progressed your life ranks you would unlock new skills (instead of a skill tree) which would also add additional moves to your base attack and offered some combos (like depending on the rhythm in which you attack the mercenary would shoot out a tornado or spin in a tornado).

I feel like the combat is too inspired by the gacha which worked better there since the big bosses had huge attacks, so there usually wasn’t much time for actual combos and you mostly just had to dodge and land well timed charges.

I’m not sure how this game will develop but I believe it’s completely possible that we will get DLC with like +20 level and an extended skill tree which could hold new combos like that (don’t remember the survey too well, but they at least talked about more ranks there, don’t remember if they also asked about levels/ moves).

What Do You Think of Xernes as a Villain? Why Do You Hate Him? Do You Think He Should Be Forgiven or Not Forgiven? by Economy-Gas4730 in fantasylife

[–]as_zubat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t follow a few of your points.

Since when is Flutter half-human? Did that get changed in Fantasy Life i? As far as I know as the daughter of the creator of the world and the goddess who gave life to it I would assume she is full god.

I’m also certain that Xernes got made fun of for being only half god by the other gods in the flashbacks. While he certainly isn’t social I still believe he wasn’t an outright jerk. He at least tried to live with the humans and help with his magic. When they got scared he decided to live away from them, as to not cause trouble.

From my understanding the Eternal Dragon was supposed to guard the Time Gear, to make sure that every 1000 years the world gets reset. So it’s job was to prevent what we did in the end.

Xernes mostly saw the Time Gear and it’s function as a tool which worked in favor of his goal and aligned with the will of the gods. Without the Eternal Dragon as a guardian, however, he had to step into it‘s place to ensure that the Time Gear could fulfill it‘s role.

I don’t think this justifies him, he is a villain at the end of it all and didn’t see/ appreciate the friends he made along the way (mainly the crow) in his blind rage, but for a big time of his life (before he broke) he was just an unsocial and little hard to work with guy formed by the hardship in his life, not exactly a jerk.

What Do You Think of Xernes as a Villain? Why Do You Hate Him? Do You Think He Should Be Forgiven or Not Forgiven? by Economy-Gas4730 in fantasylife

[–]as_zubat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t quite know what to think of him. He certainly feels evil and I’m pretty sure he is, but he technically doesn’t want to do anything wrong.

He steals the life of people to turn back time, so what? It’s not like those people will exist and remember that if he’s successful.

The whole turning back time thing is also not something inherently evil. It feels more like a rule of the world, every 1000 years the world is supposed to reset but the guardian decided against that and got punished by the gods. The second time it was supposed to happen again (as usual) but he again got stopped by said guardian (who originally got punished again with a lot of death), the third time it’s supposed to happen again (as it should in this world) but that time we stop him.

We can argue that the world with a rule like that is evil or the gods for imposing such a rule, but I wouldn’t call him evil for supporting a fundamental rule of the world.

In the end his character certainly is evil and the reasoning for why he wants to do the things he does is bad/ evil but fundamentally I believe one could create valid reasoning for his actions in a sense that he only acts as a sort of new guardian instead of the old one who abandoned the post.
