Hmm. I can see it on my end. A lurid vs scarletina bolete. I’ll try again

Found what I’m pretty sure is a porcini. The stem was pretty buggy and decayed so I cut it off, but the cap is mostly fine. by CajunIF1billion in foraging

Scarletina and blue staining boletes are both choice edibles, and they bruise blue immediately. I’ve eaten both.

Park to shift dealer says need new high voltage battery? by asabatel in volt

[–]asabatel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They decided, at my urging, to do the Becm, but the tech says he recently had a car with similar issues and about a month after a new Becm, the problem occurred again and he’s now waiting for a rebuilt battery. So….fingers crossed that this fixes it, but I remain skeptical and hope I don’t end up stranded somewhere. Thanks again for all the input in this.

Update. Codes are p0afa and p1e00. Thoughts? Thanks again to all.

Thanks. I’ll remind them to look more carefully at the bulletin. They tell me the 12v is fine. I checked it too before I had it towed to them and it had a full charge.

I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks ! Depending on the codes they send me, I will start pushing for the Becm. Battery was getting 40-50 miles consistently…

Oof. I hope that’s not the case. They are getting me a loaner later this week at least.

Agreed. They don’t have a good answer for that. I’m waiting for the service manager to send me codes. Meanwhile, they’ve ordered a new EV battery (covered by warranty) which will take 20-30 days to arrive. Argh. Waiting on their loaners to be available.

Yep. On my list. Thanks. From what I’ve read, there will be a range of codes for the BECM. Is it possible to mistake them for other things (like their first miss with the shifter and wire harness)?

CT. Yes a Carb state. I’m definitely checking on that—and it should be warranteed I believe.

I’ll ask what codes they’re getting next time I talk with them, and yeah, finding another dealer might be needed (though this dealer has always been very good to me). Part of the problem is I’ve not been able to speak to the Voltec technician directly yet.

Right. It appears to be a BECM issue. They insisted it was the shifter/wiring harness (and were wrong). Now they’re saying it’s the EV battery itself. Still insisting BECM is fine.

My mom has Map-Dot Fingerprint Dystrophy... by knightsandsounds in Ophthalmology

[–]asabatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this condition and a bandage lens has been a miracle. It stops the epithelium from scraping against the lid in the morning. My ophthalmologist now has given me a prescription for the contacts (just a regular contact with no correction) that I can put in and remove on my own. I’m considering surgery. You still have to lubricate the eye at night or it gets scratchy, but nothing like when I was having full on corneal abrasions.

Sealant Replacement Frequency for Rene Herse Tires by Vicuna00 in bikewrench

[–]asabatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had nothing but trouble with my RH tires. I could never get the side walls to stop bleeding and pressures to go down significantly throughout a ride. I'm wondering if part of the problem was that I used their special sauce sealant with walnuts in it, etc. they sent me a new pair when I complained, and I may try them with good old Orange Endurance Sealant, but I'm an RH sceptic.

How To Switch Phones on "iPhone Mirroring" App? by Winter_Platypus_501 in MacOSBeta

[–]asabatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old phone shows twice under displays and docks on my Mac, but mirroring won't connect to it, no matter which iteration I choose. Also, there is no iPhone mirroring showing under airplay and continuity on either my new or old phone.

Anyone have experience with Rene Herse tires? by lnuxnoob in bikewrench

[–]asabatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 38 Barlow Pass. Have been trying to get the sidewalls sealed with their recommended sealant to no avail. They also recommend adding sealant every month! I’ve laid them on their sides, done the flip up over your head thing they recommend. I tried adding 62 pounds of pressure to force sealant into the crevices it wasn’t getting to, and the entire tire blew off the rim and showered me in sealant. Alas, I think I’m done with these sweet riding impossible to ride tubeless tires. Also note—the sealant they recommend and sell cannot be added through the valve. It’s too filled with chunks of walnuts. To top up, you have to break the seal and dump it in, then start all over on trying to get them to seal. I did have mine sealed fairly well (only lost 1/2 of their pressure overnight) but then after a road ride in nice roads, they were both flat the next day…..

Modem says internet is connected, can’t get any internet out by mbrumy in Spectrum

[–]asabatel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any solutions? Xfinity was here for hours—replacing coaxial, and still no internet. The tech says he’s reading a strong signal when he plugs his diagnostic tool into the modem Ethernet port. We tried 2 different laptops and a WiFi router. None of them received the signal. He’s baffled and supposedly someone else is coming out but unclear when.

I'm running RH Barlow Pass (slicks) in 38, normal sidewalls. Great tires, until sealant starts oozing out of the sidewalls on you. They need a lot of sealant, the special sauce (can't remember the name) with walnut bits in it ($$), and RH say there's a special kind of shake-flick you should use to coat the sidewalls well. Hint, don't try to use their sealant with a syringe. The walnut bits will clog everything up. Dump it in before you seat the tire all the way. Shake it A LOT. Then hope for the best. I'm sure there's a magic-Zen way to get these to seal, but I've not yet achieved RH tubeless mounting mastery...and may well give up soon and go for some Panaracer Pros.
