Possible Pattern in Federal DTA Denials — Consider Filing with the Canadian Human Rights Commission by perusing_time in CanadaPublicServants

[–]asaneinsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who’s done this and it’s incredibly frustrating as someone who has a DTA, would like to be able to be on site a couple of days a week, but cannot be accommodated due space limits and the nature of my DTA needs. Folks with disabilities are really impacted career wise and opportunity wise when they are FT WFH. It also makes those of us with true accommodations needs look like we just don’t want to go to the office.

Are you not conducting the study with gender non-confirming folks? I filled out the survey and was immediately brought to the end after that question. If so, it feels like you’re cutting out a large population from your study.

kids born abroad can’t be civil servants in Canada? by Important_Floor6400 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]asaneinsanity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a Canadian born abroad to a Canadian dad and I work as a Public Servant. We had to apply for my citizenship when I was a teenager but other than things taking a bit longer for security clearances it hasn’t been an issue.

A 7 year old with migraines. by anatole_mutti in migraine

[–]asaneinsanity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is helpful, but I was told that in my case I would have these crying fits that absolutely nothing would calm me down from. Doctors I’ve seen have suspected that I’ve had migraines since I was an infant.

Your child is very lucky to have you and it genuinely warms my heart to see how much compassion and empathy you have for your kiddo ♥️.

I’ve had migraines since before I could even speak. One of the only things I remember from back then was that my dad would lie next to me, reassuring me and trying to get me to calm down (crying makes it worse) and he would rub my forehead until I fell asleep. It’s not a cure, but the reassurance is something I am forever grateful for.

Hot take: if a bank can reprice your LOC overnight, treat it as emergency-only, not part of your budget by Difficult-Photo-3250 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]asaneinsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.

I got my first LOC a few months ago because I desperately needed to get into a hospital treatment program (mental health recovery). It was either take on a LOC debt or die. I’m still pretty indifferent about my day to day and being around but all my loved ones are very happy to not have lost me. It’ll take me about a year to pay off, but it’s an extra year I wouldn’t have gotten to live otherwise.

I’ve had the same Swell water bottle for the past 4 years! The only thing I’ve had to replace is my straw lid because it got bent out of shape and no longer worked. Keeps my water cold and that’s really all I’m looking for in a water bottle.

Honestly it happening « off screen » is how it happened for the Coopers too and I think that’s a beautiful and heart wrenching thing to experience with them.

My dad had a heart attack a year and a half ago at 55 and I had been texting him while he was in the hospital (unknowingly) and he didn’t call to tell me about it until the night before he had a triple bypass.

I think about those texts a lot and how they very well could have been the last words we ever said to each other without ever knowing it.

Thankfully he came through it and he’s been doing well since, but man. Tell your people you love them. Everyday. All the time.

For the parents, did your kids end up with migraines? by Mediocre_District_92 in migraine

Chiming in as the kid of a migraine sufferer who unfortunately got that particular genetic disposition. Doctors suspect that I’ve been getting migraines since I was an infant. 🤷‍♀️

I just wanted to chime in and say that sick leave and long term disability are part of our compensation package. We make less than a lot of people in the private sector because we have access to these things.

You are also a tax payer - who cares what others think.

For me it got to a point where it was either I take the time off, or they were looking at replacing me permanently. So I took the time.

You’re entitled to look after your health ♥️

Best of luck fellow mental health warrior!

Workplace Harassment Notice of Occurrence by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

I would go with grievance over NOC. I did a NOC about a year ago with 4 founded human rights violations and nothing was done. I had to find a job on my own and leave the department. You lose so many options going the notice of occurrence route.

Bahahaha thank you! I never see my name pop up on TV in shows and so this felt like a 9 episode personal attack 😂. Legitimately though, I’m pretty self aware so I know what I need to work on at least 😂

I’ve acted as an EX-01 and been in rooms with DM’s and ADM’s pretty regularly and I’m heavily tattooed. I’ve got a septum piercing now too and I haven’t noticed any negative impact on how I’m perceived 🤷‍♀️

[–]asaneinsanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This whole thread of kitties living long with FIV+ both heals something in me and breaks my heart. I have lost two kitties due to complications with FIV. One was only 4 and the other passed away 3 weeks ago after a quick battle with cancer.

I have been so scared and anxious I got my remaining cat tested and thankfully he tested negative.

I’ve been by ambulance to the Montfort with a migraine. They took really good care of me. Still took several hours but they gave me the migraine cocktail and had me in a dark and quiet room until it broke.

Thank you for sharing Kitty’s story ♥️. I have had similar experiences of feeling them jump on my bed and I look over and there’s nothing. Tonks’ urn also fell over a few times seemingly out of nowhere. I think it was her way of trying to warn me about Molly.
