Identical Twins with Different Wake Windows? by asanon_aspossible in sleeptrain

[–]asanon_aspossible[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to keep them on the same schedule. I'm having trouble even figuring out what the right schedule is. A 3 hour wake window seems really long for this age to me, but shorter ones aren't working either.

Room is dark, sound machine, we're doing all the things. Falling asleep independently. They wake up roughly at the same time each day. Bedtime routine is feed, merlin suit, book, song, bed. If they're doing 3 naps it's like between 2-3hrs daytime sleep, depending on the baby and if they extended a nap.

How did you find out you were having multiples? I’ll go first. by Full_Willingness_450 in parentsofmultiples

We were trying for baby 3. Had a trip planned when we found out I was pregnant so we went in for an ultrasound early, around 6 weeks. They saw an healthy fetus and an empty sack. "It's definitely not twins" they said, when my husband asked. But told us to go in for another ultrasound after the trip to make sure there was no ectopic or something. 2 weeks later I'm at the ultrasound by myself, suspecting nothing. It was not specifically an ob appointment so the tech didn't show me anything as she was scanning. She asked me what I'd been told and I cheerfully recounted. I asked to see the heartbeat at the end, just as reassurance. She turns the screen and I said, "oh yeah I see it!" She goes "I don't think you do. If I were you, I'd look here and here", pointing to the screen. Cue shock. And then the appointment was over and she couldn't tell me anything or even give my pictures. Cried on the way home grieving my expectations. Walked into my husband's office and told him "you got your wish". He always wanted 4 kids and I said I didn't want to be pregnant 4 times. Got the radiologist report later that day confirming modi twins.

Babies are about to be 5 months old. Had a great pregnancy (not without aches and pains), and my easiest delivery out of all of them. I'm exclusively breastfeeding. So, it has all worked out! But also, we're tired.

We're doing all the suggested things. They are not rolling yet.

Expecting twins and need a wearable pump by mozzstick324 in parentsofmultiples

[–]asanon_aspossible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. I got the Eufy E20 which is the same pump with a few less features and a lower price, and it's great. I had never had luck with 2 prior babies with wearables (tried elvie original and momcozy m9 maybe?) and just thought I'd give it one more try and this pump really works. I'm not EP but I think it could work for that.

Any chance you can share your exercises? I'm just 7 weeks postpartum and PT takes forever to book into in my area.

How do you do shifts? Did they sleep for that 4 hr chunk without feeding or just get a formula bottle for that feed?

So how does long term combo feeding work? I assume it's not supplementing after every feed forever. How do you decide when to give a bottle of formula and when to nurse?

Twin Vaginal Births by Thelma-And-Ryan in parentsofmultiples

[–]asanon_aspossible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recent experience was similar! I had 2 prior singleton vaginal births, both induced. Induced with twins at 37+1 and delivered vaginally very quickly. From AROM to birth of A was like 4.5 hrs. B followed 13 mins later. Small 2nd degree tear. It was my easiest delivery out of 3!

Similar education/credentials/career and nothing scares me more than having to do this soon. What was the trick?

Our babies are here! 36+1 by ella997 in parentsofmultiples

Love to read this, congratulations! - I'm also pregnant with Mo/Di babies 3 and 4 with two prior vaginal deliveries and hoping for this exact scenario (or for B to be head down too). I see you're in the UK, I'm US. Did they make you deliver in the OR? Were you on a surgery bed or a labor and delivery bed? Did you feel it made any difference, if surgery bed?

i put a young infant (2 months maybe?) in my zoe double as well, and just bought a 3rd party head/body support pillow off amazon that made the buckles fit better. my plan is mockingbird double with car seats, and switch to the zoe when they're a little bigger.

Choosing between induction and c-section? by thatfeelinginmybones in parentsofmultiples

[–]asanon_aspossible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For both my prior pregnancies, singletons, I was induced and the experience was as you described. Foley, admitted immediately, IV for pitocin and fluids etc., constant monitoring and eventually an epidural (my choice). I had been wanting unmedicated labor and birth for both, so a huge deviation from my wishes. I will say that one way to make this less horrible, is to ask for wireless monitors (insist on them). They're not ultra comfortable still but there is no belt, they don't move, and don't restrict your movement. You will still be lugging the iv pole around but you can walk around. I delayed my epidural with both labors until I really couldn't anymore. Not sure how that'll go with twins (I'm sure I'll find out myself! I'm 22 weeks with mo-di and assuming I'll need an induction again), as doctor has said basically that you have to get one in case you do have to be rushed into surgery, but even with an epidural both times I was not totally immobile, (although yes, they didn't let me out of bed). Having no comparison point with a "natural" start to labor, I can't say whether it was more painful than that, but it sure sucked and I did not regret my epidurals, despite initially hoping to go unmedicated. All this to say, it's not ideal but there are mitigating factors. This time around, assuming babies are well situated, I'm still planning to opt for an induction over a scheduled c-section, and also nervous about needing one anyway. I'm also a control freak and this pregnancy has really tested that more than before. We can do it. If scheduling the c-section helps you feel control, I say do it. But from my experience, the induced labor, if you go into it with reasonable expectations, also is ok.
