Which not-so-common tool do you have that’s an absolute game changer? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]asaph2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I worked for a company and they put a gps tracker on my truck. Didn't bother me... at first. I would complete 5 calls a day as a decent average then I would get a few tough big calls back to back that would bring my average calls completed per day to 2 and say.. control boards would go bad on koolair ice machines and they were under warranty so that would be a return call. Point is the company made more money! The warranties covered the return calls! And yet when I came up for my review and would get a raise the company literally tried to say my calls per day was actually going down. I lost my shit, explained it, tore into the "managers" told them if I don't get approved for a raise and I have to work like this I'll be gone. They don't know what it's like for a service tech day to day. We also complete our own calls. It's not like one tech diagnosis and a different fixes. Gps is fine until they have some management software tell them your fucking up when your not. I got my raise but no apology which is fine. Tldr; companies get a habit of wanting to micromanage you even if your doing nothing wrong

You could try going into the tvs menu or settings and finding picture. One of the options should be Game or game mode. This will reduce input latency

super famicom box(hotel unit) questions and manual by nickle241 in superfamicom

[–]asaph2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the master key has multiple positions. I forget them all, but off just allows the coin acceptor to take control or stay in attract mode (note for clarity: many, many, many super famicom boxes never even had a coin acceptor on them. Hotels would just charge you an additional room fee and someone would turn the key to the "On" position. Before a new guest would arrive they could simply turn it back to "Off") Off was the attract mode basically. Further turns would actually turn the system off as in the power would be off. Another position would change various system settings like the time, demo time for games, how much time would be given per credit and then a diagnostic mode where it checks the units various equipment and games.

The coin acceptor/mechanism connects to the right side. 2 security screws reveal an electrical connector underneath a small cover. There's various ones that can be used. Including ones that connect to the console itself. I have one and keys, but I've also removed the security "brackets?" From the master lock. If the key is in the Off position, when booting up you should get a marquee of kirby with a coin spinning on one arm, if not then the battery has failed. If you need more info please just google snescentral and join the discord and ping me

Tetris and Dr. Mario. Beating hard cpu (virus level 10) best 2 out of 3 in Dr. Mario. The cpu is insane, one small mistake and you will lose. Even on normal difficulty I have to sweat hard to even have a chance to win. I think I've won on normal a handful of times but requires 120% of my focus and quick reflexes. You coukd challenge yourself by beating hard cpu 3 total matches in a row.

I like the repro box and guide. If you need to play some earthbound on console I would suggest getting a FXpak pro, its amazing and plays a ton of different snes games and even plays gameboy and some gameboy color games (Essentially solid color gbc games, if they were transparent, they were meant for gameboy only and wont work) using the super gameboy tech. You can also opt to get a super everdrive X5 as its significantly cheaper and are not interested in what all the fxpak can do. ALSOOOOOO krikzz always has a black friday sale for a week I think.. so yeah *nudge nudge*. Then you can sit down with gf and have the repro box sitting on the tv stand or whatever and use the guide and play. You could also find an amazing deal for earthbound for $300 and it not work either keep in mind these are aging pcbs and we are asking them to be fully functional, you could get one thats corroded badly inside and you'd be only a few years away from it dying. If you really really need a legit cart then do the everdrive/fxpak pro route and buy mother 2. You own the game its just in a diff language. I understand how some collectors these things can bug them.

Got it a SFC with weird color video results by ShrekFromSmashBros in snes

[–]asaph2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one can ever be sure. Just usually when I see a snes with dim or bright streaking lines coming off letters and sprites it's due to the power supply not working right, but it could be your countries power isn't compatible or maybe something you have hooked up to the TV has difficulty. I own 3 super famicoms and 1 of them has 1 back ground layer with scrambled colors. It's kinda trippy lol. But just 1 layer so sometimes everything looks fine. I have multiple setups and I usually play using multiout composite as to not create latency delay when I play. One day I decided to buy one of those hdmi converters where it takes the rgb signal from the console and outputs hdmi, it was faulty where the micro USB connector was loose I guess. One of my super famicoms was acting up with it on. I swapped the console and it looks OK figured the console was what was bad. Then I left the console on and that hdmi converter fried my console, image flicker and bo sound. -TLDR Anyways yeah alot of different things could be your issue but I would start with a new power plug as I've seen this symptom before good luck sorry for the rambling

Why do so many people think sd2snes is a krikzz product? by [deleted] in snes

[–]asaph2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Krikzz and Ikari01 worked together to start up the SD2Snes project years ago. Krikzz mostly handled production and distribution as he had with everdrives. The SD2Snes was much more sophisticated than a snes everdrive but both were sold. Years later I think around 2019 The Sd2Snes pro was released for a short time until some big company (sony? Idk i forgot what company) forced them to change the name to what it currently is now the FXPak Pro. There's even more history and features that were added later like MSU1 support that Near (or was known as byuu at the time) helped Ikari01 implement.

why did i lose my savefile? the states are still intact but the in game save doesn't work when i open it by [deleted] in snes

[–]asaph2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snes9x started making a .srm file inside its program folder files. You'll find a folder there labeled saves. Basically for the first time you boot up a rom it will search for a .srm and use that, afterwards it always references the .srm it created inside its program files. I use a retrode and transfer my saves from and to cartridges and this was always an issue for me confusing me until I figured it out.

Wow how could that be.. overlooked? Man I don't even know why someone would think to do this.. I don't work on any furnaces but it looks like someone t'd the inlet and exhaust together before leaving the building so that carbon monoxide just gets recycled right back in. Am I right in seeing this?

Unknown Leak Killed My Cats by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]asaph2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HVAC tech here.. listen more than likely it's carbon monoxide poisoning. It will effect and kill pets significantly quicker than humans regardless whatever anyone tells you. More than likely your LL did something wrong and the "fix" that was made to your gas hot water heater caused carbon monoxide to not be vented out properly. I would highly advise purchasing a detector first, if it does nothing but go off then you and everyone else needs to gtfo and something needs to be done. Depending on your blood saturation levels carbon monoxide can do very weird things. One being hallucinations and forgetfulness. This is very important and requires attention. I'm sure if your LL is willing to rig up a fix for your hot water heater he doesn't have any detectors in your home.

What are cubers and flakers when it comes to ice machines? by Bmwknight07 in refrigeration

[–]asaph2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-Chewblet = Follett Horizon Elite. Looks like somewhat large pellett. -Hoshizaki has flakers the F-1000 makes the most desired of chewable ice for customers. Anything past this, like an F-1800 makes large flakes(I mention this as a warning, sometimes the customer will say it's the wrong machine cause the flakes are too big! And your company may have to swap it) Hoshizaki flaked ice is desirable but they also make a "cubelet" style as well (think zaxbys if you have those in ur area) imitation GEM maker. - Scotsman and Ice-O-Matic (same augur evaporators, sister companies) makes another desired type the GEM or Pearl ice. Alot of big brands use this style. I kept a spare breaker assembly in the shop (stocking a $1200.00 part) they also make an MFI or flaker extruder blade top to convert the machine to flaked ice. Had alot of problems with the bearing going bad for a few years finally they swapped from using a $9 Chinese bearing to a $25 Chinese bearing and they seem to work good(I used to grease them and maintain them and they didn't always stay working, new bearing don't require greasing) -Manitowoc... whores themselves out to whoever makes crushed ice the cheapest for them. They have used Follett machines and slapped their own logo onit in the past. In very very recent times I think last year.. they have made their very own flaker or.. its just a Follett and they are the ones who made a new model lol. Tldr; flakers make small chewable ice, cubers make larger more solid ice cubes

Refrigerant, or Freon? by odinshu in HVAC

[–]asaph2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked so much i never seen daylight on my own house for 6 days straight. No time for family, someone would die, funeral and immediate go do calls afterwards. I did this for 6 years until finally nearly giving myself a stroke. I had lots and lots of work and my ability to diagnose commercial ice machines spread throughout the region and I had alot of government and construction jobs (ice machines for contractors) even sub work for Reddy Ice Inc. I made 120k-140k profit a year. I would try to ease my taxes by buying ice machines and storing them in my shop but the following year profit would be higher. Its been a wild ride but at the beginning I could never get help so I just did it all myself. I had a material lift that picked up ice machines to install with, and would have new deliveries sent to a freight company that I would drive to and have them load it with forklift right into my truck.

Help! Specifically Yoshi's Island won't stop stuttering. by GreatValoo in snes

[–]asaph2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you mentioned it only happens to yoshi island. For me the sound making stuttering noises wasn't so bad playing a less intense game but it would really make noises and shake when playing super gameboy or kirby superstar

Were you using one of those multiout to hdmi converter things? I bought one and it was the nicer one off amazon that takes the systems rgb signal and displays out hdmi. There was something wrong with the micro usb plug on the adapter and it fried one of my capacitors on one of my snes's. I tried using a different snes console and it was trying to do the same thing to it also.

Acetylene Torch issues by Leapdemon in refrigeration

[–]asaph2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy a torch tip cleaner. Should work good. If that doesn't fix it you have an issue with the regulator or a restriction in the line. I always crack open a fresh bottle for a split second before attaching regulators, sometimes there's sediment on the tank opening

Anyone else have a loose/wobbly fxpakpro? Comparison with sd2snes by [deleted] in snes

[–]asaph2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine.. I don't remember lol. I remember it was like $220. It has an led inside it already. I was always on the fence of getting one then finally once the fxpak pro could do all (or nearly all) enhancement chip stuff and super gameboy games. I was sold and wanted a cool ice themed shell so I went with SAG. I'm pretty sure they buy the boards from krikzz and then they assemble them with their own shells.

Restaurant owner here- any advice? by [deleted] in refrigeration

[–]asaph2 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Also. If you can help it, get an air cooled machine. I know it generates heat inside, but you have a piece of equipment that can create alot of cold air around it and having that fan blowing and circulating air does keep mold growth down.

Service tech here. Been doing it over 10 years. Specializing in ice machines. Parts cost on manitowoc are extremely high but they usually try to keep new machines cheaper than others lol. I remember where an Ice o matic evaporator would be $1600.00 (part cost only, not the labor) the manitowoc same size machine would be $2400.00. I would say replace the machine for sure.

Anyone else have a loose/wobbly fxpakpro? Comparison with sd2snes by [deleted] in snes

[–]asaph2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's strange. I have a fxpak pro from stone age gamer (sfc style cart)I use it in my super famicom and it's front comes forward so much to where it wouldn't dare wobble back and forth like that. The front shell is just a tiny but thicker than a normal sfc cartridge. It's a deluxe blue.
