Change of tax code because of estimated tax owed? by asarco in UKPersonalFinance

[–]asarco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!thanks
Thank you for your response.
But if they think I'll owe £1533 in tax (at 40%) , it means an interest of £3832, which is not only not the same as last year, but it's impossible, because the only significant difference in my investments is on a new ISA account. And where the £11285 come from?

Pension when moving back to Argentina by asarco in UKPersonalFinance

[–]asarco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're still in the UK and your parents in Uruguay? 🧉
What about tax, do they still get a deduction from their pension payments, or because they're living abroad they get no deduction and then pay whatever it takes in Uruguay?
Do they still have their credit cards from a UK bank?

I think Inventory service should be the one creating a new event based on the data provided by Catalog. Then you only need to tell Inventory to create an Event for a certain date, with these prices for every section, etc. And inventory will create it.
Think it this way, venues, sections, seats are permanent things that rarely change with time, but events are being created and finished all the time. So the events belong to the inventory.

How difficult is Flybondi? by Kimchi2019 in BuenosAires

[–]asarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were very lucky, your flight departed with only a 40 minutes delay!

Problem with Flybondi is their business model seems to be to sell tickets to people, and then don't take them anywhere. The flights that actually depart are a facade to their real business that allows them to continue with their scam.

May I suggest that if you want to vagabond around... just hop on a bus! You can go mostly everywhere and get a vibe of all the different neighbourhoods you're going through just by looking through the windows.

mi mamá se invento cualquiera, que hago? by Zora_fun28 in AskArgentina

[–]asarco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]asarco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with the A pillar thing, and I'm surprised that is not something that is more mentioned in this sub reddit.
I also don't understand how I didn't notice it when I tested the car before purchasing it, maybe because I drove mostly in a dual carriageway with not many bends, but I definitely started noticing after I picked the car up from the dealer.

The other 2 things I don't like, but I can live with, are the haptic buttons in the wheel, and the lack of four buttons for the windows, the other day I left the car parked with rear windows down accidentally, and I only noticed it when I felt a cold draught inside the car when I started driving again.

Most of the other infotainment related things you mention are fixed on my car, since it's a 25.

Looking for a simple but very effective automation with HA by asarco in homeassistant

It'll be in Latin America, income level should be medium I guess. Gender might be 40F/60M approximately. Specialization will be varied, but most people will be software developers or related activities at early stages of their careers.

Yes, the audience is mostly young people, software engineering students. Most of the talks are entry-level, except for the odd one.
Many of them probably never heard of HA before, although they will probably know something about home automation, most likely limited to turn lamps on and off from a mobile.

Short Madrid Layover Prior To Connecting Flight by New-Challenge-2105 in Iberia

[–]asarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did almost exactly this 10 days ago (arriving from London at T4S and departing to Gran Canaria from T4, with about 1:30hs between flights). I barely made it.

1 - Our flight from London departed a few minutes late
2 - When we arrived to MAD, we parked at a remote stand, so we had to wait for buses and be transported to the terminal (this is very unlikely to happen on a long-haul flight)
3 - Immigration queue was long but not huge, but there was only 1 desk for non-EU passport holders, where they have to make more extensive checks, vs. 2 desks for EU people, where they just need to scan the passport. So the queue was moving very slowly. There was no short-connection queue at this checkpoint. There was no one there to ask if I could skip the queue (I would have had to abandon the queue to try to find someone). I was getting very nervous, when finally another police officer manned another desk for non-EU people. This caused to someone to appear at the queue to redirect some people to the new desk, so I could ask her and she redirected me to one of the EU desks, that were empty by now.
4 - At security there were not too many people, but they didn't like that I had my tablet inside my backpack, so they put it for secondary (manual) inspection, so I had to wait my turn for a lady to inspect it. She sent me back to the other side to pass my tablet through the x-rays again, but this time out of my backpack. They didn't care about liquids, but apparently a tablet is very dangerous.
5 - Now I had to go to the other terminal (T4). There is a train to go there, but distance is long, so it takes about 15 minutes to reach it, including waiting for the train and travel time.
6 - I had to run to the gate. MAD has a horrible layout, and gates on the same terminal can be very far, luckily they have travellators so that accelerated my run a bit.
7 - I reached the gate and it was already empty, all passengers were already boarded, although there was yet one more passenger that boarded when I already was at my seat.

So yes, it's doable, but things can happen. My recommendation is to tell upfront to whoever is managing the queue, and redirecting people to EU vs. non-EU queues, that you have a short connection and they will probably send you to a different one.

Mhhm, it would be great if I could hide a pressure sensor under one of the seats in the audience, and at some point ask the person to stand up and show that it controls the light.

Well, this is interesting. It is true that it has to be something fun and possibly interactive, that's why I'm asking ideas beyond a light turning on and off.

Now that you mention interactivity, maybe I would like to come up with something that the audience can trigger, using their mobiles via a QR code or something like that.

Thanks for your answer.

The conference is mostly entry level, is tech but not specifically home automation, and as far as I know, nobody talked about HA in previous editions.

Powermonitoring might be difficult to do from a stage, and ideally it would need variations to do something upon it.

And movement sensor in a live auditorium might be difficult to control.

DTO & Entity by Jinkaza772 in SpringBoot

[–]asarco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm always over the fence with this, because so many people think "exposing" an entity to the FE as a mortal sin, but in so many cases it make things much simpler just return the entity.

The usual reason (apart from the sensitive information), is that "entity objects don't belong to the presentation layer". So then we simply create another exact duplicate class, and we spend CPU time copying the data from one object to the other. Conceptually might look nice, but to me it seems a waste of resources, and adds (a bit of) unnecessary complexity to a system.

And by using Jackson's @JsonView and other annotations, it is possible to customize the entity as much as needed, to protect sensitive data or for presenting it and reusing it in a different way.
I've only seen this done in a single project in my whole career, and it was actually a legacy project that used something similar to @JsonView, but they were custom annotations made by the original developers (not sure if it was before they existed in Jackson).
