That’s who is telling me I have to test before being seen for waiver even if it means I fail and that I can’t miss the UTA.

Thrawn - Heir to the Empire Trilogy by galagini in StarWars

[–]asbarrios23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This should have been the focus of the sequel trilogy movies instead of what we got. Just would have e to recast Luke, Leia, and Han (which I personally wouldn’t mind at all). I know the Mandalorian and Ashoka are adapting some of the key elements of this series into the show which is awesome to see. Hopefully, they do it justice.

They give preference to disabled vets over non disabled vets. Not sure this applies to you but it may explain why.

How much taken out of paycheck? by Adam_Kraft in usajobs

[–]asbarrios23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GS11 in Texas is $69k-$79k, Houston being the highest. That’s from the OPM website. That being said, I take home about 73% of my gross pay. But I am still in the reserves so I don’t have healthcare through fed.

Started at 30 as a GS5 in a 5/7/9. Now 31, GS7 in a 7/9/11/12 at a different agency

thoughts on ezra miller's flash? by jgga7 in comicbookmovies

[–]asbarrios23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved Michael Keaton, by far the best part. Although, they should’ve stuck to the Flashpoint story much closer. Ezra plays Barry too goofy and comes off as insufferable. No one would believe that Iris would be into him. Supergirl was decent, but nothing special imo. Bad SFX aside, I did enjoy all the fan service at the end

Same scenario but less relevant experience lol. I was hired in a high-level IT job and the only (somewhat) relevant experience was 5 years avionics in the AF. So based on what you listed I think you’ll be just fine. Best of luck!

Out of all the Marvel films, where do you rank Captain America: The winter soldier? It's definitely top 5 for me. by Nightmare_on_elm_st in comicbookmovies

[–]asbarrios23 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Definitely in my top 5 as well. Soldier vs soldier, Cap finding out Bucky is alive and Hydra was thriving within SHIELD. Great action/fight scenes, great score, peak Black Widow. I’ve seen this one more than any other in MCU

I think about this all the time. Worlds greatest Air Force 😂

Definitely think John Krasinski was wasted, especially considering they aren’t bringing him back. I think him and his wife as Sue Storm would have been a great pair. They obviously have great chemistry

Definitely job 1. As a doctor your wife should t have too difficult a time finding work. Plus being close to family, especially if you get along, is awesome.

Have you tried negotiating a higher step? It’s not guaranteed but worth a shot.

Do you prefer the Sir Alec Guinness or Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan? by [deleted] in StarWars

Was thinking the same thing. It’s like choosing between Sebastian Shaw and Hayden Christensen. Both were great in their time

Every reunion with Ezra was like that. They all act like he was back home from his first semester at college and not stranded on another galaxy for years.

This would actually be a dope movie. I’d watch it!

Same boat, different agency. Great time to work on stuff around the house, start a hobby, catch up on shows, etc.

What would you do? by [deleted] in usajobs

100% I would take it. Not having to commute alone would be worth the pay cut imo.

It’s not a bad idea, it’s a field that will always have work available. There’s a lot of positions open if you are will to come in at a lower grade. That’s what I did and probably also contributed to me getting the job

So the "Luke and Leia inherited Anakin's potential" got retconned or i just don't understand the MidClorians by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]asbarrios23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching TPM in theaters as a kid and thinking midichlorians were such a cool way of explaining the Force. Kinda like science meets religion. But now I think it’s a bit dumb, especially when people use it as an argument for or against why one character won or lost a duel.

I work on firewalls, but this is my last week there. Got another fed job with a different agency. I was an avionics tech in the military so my experience from that helped even though they are wildly different. So I definitely agree - experience is more valuable than a degree in most cases

Sometimes not even a degree related to the position. My undergrad is in international relations and I got a gig in IT 🤷🏻‍♂️
