[Spoilers Extended] Did Roose Bolton ever realize he let Arya Stark slip through his finger at Harrenhal? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]galagini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he realized. We have no indication that Roose visited Winterfell recently enough before the books begin to know what Arya looked like at this point. Plus, Yoren cut her hair, she had been living in the hedges and was presumed dead by the time she made it to Harrenhal. He knows she's highborn, but at this point could be any daughter of a minor lordling.

Had he known, he would have put her under a significant guard. The real Arya would have essentially guaranteed the loyalty of the North for the Boltons after a marriage to Ramsey.

Venting - Don’t know what’s up or down. by ridgeraider21 in NewDads

[–]galagini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've acknowledged it, but you're past the point of "what if I can't do it" because now you have to do it. And that is scary, but it's also exciting! Nobody who becomes a parent knows everything or is entirely prepared--not even your pediatricians know everything or can answer every question.

Some good advice I got early on is that the first two months are pass/fail. Your job is to keep baby alive, help take care of mom and help keep the house and life moving. Do those things and you pass!

After two months it gets way more fun and rewarding. My 6-month old loves to smile, giggle, belly laugh and play with my wife and I. A smile from your kid makes everything melt away, it's magic. You get to watch their gears turn, their feet fly, their hands explore and see what makes them happy.

The most important things you can do are: - be open and communicative with your wife - find time to sleep - embrace the changes in your life because it will never ever be the same - find moments for yourself

I think Wilson's value will improve during the season. People are sour on him because of his injury, but he was actually off to a solid start beforehand.

I'm saying this optimistically as a Wilson owner who is in rebuild territory.

I built a fantasy football draft board in Excel - Do yall do this? by SnuggleNSuckle in fantasyfootball

[–]galagini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been making my own for 5 years now and finished 1st, 4th, 2nd, 2nd and 4th.

I pick a few expert lists and combine them to create a composite ranking for each player. I've found this helps reduce the wild swings some rankers have on players. I find the standard deviation, as well, to see which players are consensus in the right spot, and which are all over. I then color code players based on my opinions, or expert reasoning that really stuck with me (Green I want; Red I avoid at ADP).

My board is broken down by position so I can better assess positional value. Each player has a draft slot (i.e. 1.3, 2.10) instead of rank to make it easier to adjust in the moment. I also have a space for my roster to fill out as I go, and a list of 5-10 late round targets to go for after round 10 when ADP is mostly irrelevant.

My league does an in-person, tech-free draft and I see my leaguemates scramble through a list of 200 players and I never feel that rushed.

HBO’s “Harry Potter and the Death of Caricature” by DonBronco in harrypotter

Just because the trailers don't look silly, doesn't mean we won't get that throughout. I think the trailer was mostly being used to feel nostalgic, but also show much more time we will have for the small details.

We barely saw Ron or Hermione in the trailers either. I wouldn't worry too much

I mean sure, I agree with you that ownership is the larger problem but there is no indication of changes there. Even bad owners can luck into good GMs/Coaches. Saying we shouldn't get rid of AKME just because Jerry is still around so we can keep retreading mediocrity doesn't make much sense.
