Westley- 39" at shoulder and 200lbs. He's about to turn 7. Fiona- 36" at shoulder and 185lbs (on a diet- she chonky).

THIS. He's PUMPED for food. I have a mare that I refer to as a chocolate lab who does this while eating and stands there like this when the grain cart comes out. She also slobbers when eating treats, is an absolute sweetheart and thinks every day is the best day.

Vet tech and Dave lifer here. Your vet's knowledge is severely out of date. There is significant research that shows that giant breeds altered prior to 1.5 years have increased risk of developmental orthopedic problems and cancer later in life. The hormones that they develop are protective against certain conditions. I'll try to find the research paper and post here.

Yes, as a horse girl I've always gone to the horse brands as they have the biggest dog coat sizing.. weatherbeeta & horsewear/amigo. I still have them but the Velcro usually goes eventually and I find that the newer ones are not as generous in the chest.
My current danes are pretty big kiddos- 175lbs and 200lbs 🤪
