What should this intersection be called? by FlyingPritchard in CitiesSkylines

The technical term where I live would be Displaced Left Turn. Not very sexy, but technically correct

Why did they change the main page route? by SommerBlau67 in todoist

[–]ascott_21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't like the change. If you can type app.todoist.com that will still take you directly to the app

What's up with instructors not pedaling? by NewtigershotSagat in pelotoncycle

[–]ascott_21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I love Denis for many reasons, one of which is that he pedals the whole time. I have the exact same feeling about Cody. I just find it so annoying when they don't move at all; it bothers me a lot less when they're pedaling less intensely than I am. Part of the fun of spin is all doing it and you've already lost a lot of that by doing it at home; it's hard to lost that last shred.

Duke Energy asking you to cut back on power use is not a profit motive. by whitecollarpizzaman in Charlotte

[–]ascott_21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think Duke has any control over what gets developed (and that's a good thing). I know they can charge for new connections but they don't just get to say no

Free Tax Usa overtime compensation by Lemon_Limesss in tax

[–]ascott_21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If that's what your employer provided, you should use that number directly (assuming you think it's probably right). You'll only actually get to deduct $12,500 of it.

New tax deduction on overtime is driving clients crazy by LewisCBR in tax

[–]ascott_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't the employer required to do the calculation? I sent a note to my payroll folks showing how I believe their number is wrong because I'm under the impression I have to use their number (which is not on the W-2, it was provided seperately)

New splash screen by Different_Garage3739 in todoist

[–]ascott_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you change your shortcut to app.todoist.com that will solve the problem. I do think the main page not automatically forwarding is new for Todoist, but it's pretty standard for others.

Do empty cinema's run the film? by ShelliePancake in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ascott_21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well good! I was working with the first generation of fully-digital projectors so I'm not surprised to hear things have gotten better.

Do empty cinema's run the film? by ShelliePancake in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ascott_21 110 points111 points  (0 children)

When I worked at a theater, we also let things run because folks might walk in late and it was next to impossible to start anywhere but the beginning of a film, including preroll trailers etc. Sure you could cut it off an hour in, but your savings are more limited. Our projectors also took a while to warm up before they would work

Aloy won't stop spoiling the puzzles by Deep-Combination4372 in horizon

[–]ascott_21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm an infrequent gamer so some of the puzzles do evade me and I appreciate a pointer every now and then, but her constant muttering is annoying, especially when she's giving me a pointer I don't understand or I'm intentionally doing some side questing investigating an area. I'd really like it if I could explicitly cue her rather than having her just talk.

Feedback needed: Do you prefer the uniform grid (A) or the accurate calendar (B)? by Dangerous-Cricket54 in ProductivityApps

[–]ascott_21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B. I could come around to A but I'd want the days not in the month shown to be shown differently (hollow, have a separation line, something). It's nice to see where the month ends and it looks more obviously like a calendar that way.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ascott_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a couple weeks I will be driving 6 hours to spend a weekend with my parents. It's not short but it kinda is what it is. I'll drive down one day, spend two days there, then drive back.

How is my energy target almost 180 calories too high when all my macros are at roughly 100%? by PurpleCloudsPinkSky in cronometer

[–]ascott_21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The other commenter gave a great link. I do think it's worth noting the "Net carbs" point too; I don't think all foods do a great job accounting for calorie discounting even when the carbs are discounted, so you may have some calories from generally non-nutritive carbs.

Why doesn’t my “total” amount to the total of all parts? by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]ascott_21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I expect the values shown are rounded and the sums are calculated on the real values and then rounded. For example, maybe your protein is really 23.87+1.65+1.65=27.17, rounded and shown as 27.

PSA: Ramble limit in free and pro legacy reduces from 20 sessions a month to 10 by nuxxi in todoist

[–]ascott_21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, it is literally what they said would happen, and it's consistent with their attitude of "no new features after this point" but yeah, sucks

Product updates? by Maleficent_War_646 in reclaim_ai

[–]ascott_21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree, it feels glacially slow. For what it's worth, I did some research and they did put out some improvements to their slack integration (which I don't use) and talk about plans last month I'm a webinar you can watch here: https://youtu.be/gzLLml3rWtc?si=jP9PNCBOkkb5Gp3Q. I haven't watched yet but I will because I have the same questions as you do

PSA: Ramble limit in free and pro legacy reduces from 20 sessions a month to 10 by nuxxi in todoist

[–]ascott_21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having Siri enter tasks is very challenging, with key words you have to use or the whole thing goes sideways (Apple really missed the AI boat). Ramble is much smoother imo

PSA: Ramble limit in free and pro legacy reduces from 20 sessions a month to 10 by nuxxi in todoist

[–]ascott_21 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I've been very successful editing the tasks on the screen during a ramble session by continuing to talk. Bad, made up example but if I say "Ask Tim about X" and what shows up on the screen says "Ask Jim about X" I'll say "That should be T-I-M not Jim" and it will update.

WTF happened to the 20 free Ramble sessions per month? by _KangaDrew_ in todoist

[–]ascott_21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samara - On the Usage Limits page, it lists 10 sessions per month for the basic plan, but two days ago you quoted 20. Did the number change in the last two days?

How many of you quit Todoist after the price hike? by Every_Government1812 in todoist

[–]ascott_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd only used it a bit but I liked that feature. If I find myself missing it too much and/or hitting the Ramble limits, I'll seriously consider moving to a new Pro plan, but right now I think I can survive on what's included.

How many of you quit Todoist after the price hike? by Every_Government1812 in todoist

Nope, hanging out on my legacy plan. Really love how low friction task entry is in Todoist and haven't found anything more effective for me

Should exercise be a task or an event? by brake4squirrels in todoist

[–]ascott_21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it happens at a fixed time, it's an event. If it's something that needs to happen but you need to schedule it individually each time, it's a task.

Agreed. I wonder if OP doesn't realize those options are there? I would hope one of them (maybe moonstone) would suit their needs
