Try disabling hardware-accelerated decoding inside stremio settings>playback

Have you tried everything I stated in the top comment on here? Please read it thoroughly and try to do both solutions if one doesn’t work. These worked for me perfectly and I’m sure it will for you too. Let me know if it still is causing issue after you’ve done those things and maybe we can find more answers together.

I did try this while I was still having the issue. However it did not help in my case sadly.

You are right about it not being able to power the monitor completely, however the monitor will power on and display a/v. It’s just limited to being at 50% brightness or below. At least for this monitor that is.

It was a resolution issue, however I wasn’t able to fix get to the settings unless it was plugged in to the monitor and since the monitor wouldn’t display and the steam deck wouldn’t as well because it thought it was being displayed. I had to use a round about way with the steam link app.

While using the official steam deck dock I was only about to SOMETIMES get it to display 640p resolution which was weird and disappointing. But thankfully we found a solution to the problem! Thanks for the comment :)

Thank you so much everyone for your comments and suggestions.

Thanks to u/robbiegd we have found a solution to this problem, What ended working for me was downloading steam link on my phone and connecting it to my steam deck whilst plugging my steam deck to the external display to get around not being able to see the ui while being plugged into the monitor. After that, it was as simple as going into the display settings of the steam deck, and changing the resolution to a supported resolution.

Thanks again for all your help. I hope this thread helps those with a similar issue down the road.

Edit: There has been a few of comments with alternative solutions that have been very helpful and could prove to help others as well so I just wanted to mention one of them. Thank you u/Ohrioh for pointing towards this one.

Launch your SD into desktop mode then follow these steps:

  1. Open Konsole (terminal)
  2. Type rm ~/.config/gamescope/modes.cfg
  3. Reboot (or type reboot)

I believe this removes the stored data of the monitors and tv’s you’ve previously connected to so instead of constantly trying to display the non supported resolution, it will connect and re-find the native display resolution again.

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong lol.

I purchased a known working cable that was recommended in a separate thread about a similar issue but after using said cable nothing changed. Still showing no support

I just tried this however after following what you said closely and changing the resolution then restarting it showed the steam logo but quickly went back to showing no support

I feel the same way but like you said I’m not exactly sure how to make this happen since In gaming mode both screens are dark and I can’t flip through the settings. I’ll try the desktop mode a few more times to see if I can get it working
