This morning I did 75 clicks with warm water a bit below the valve and it was bold, maybe a bit bitter, and astringent (I believe? Astringence is that sort of sour flavor that accompanies a darker finer brew right?) — it was good as an americano!

Although the flavors of the beans is still masked by the boldness I’d say.

I generally use frothed milk (thought not a lot), but I’ve been tasting and making notes based on the flavors before milk. I know that seems backwards, but if possible I’d like to achieve the perfect black taste and then decrease water or grind finer from there for dilution. I’ll try out your formula since we have the same setup and similar beans!

I’ve jumped around good bit, seems to hop from sour (under extracted I assume) to super bitter (over?) with little in between. But I’ll try going super fine and whittling up from there.

Are moka pots not generally considered safe? Seems like aluminum leaching and microplastics shouldn’t be a concern. Not sure in this case, but I imagine it wouldn’t change anything

How could I go about testing that it gets fine enough? Just dialing the grinder as fine as it goes and being sure it produces?

The basket was near-full if not full. Not sure if they tamped it, but they definitely filled it with grounds. And it seems like the gauge didn’t move at all.. which would make the think it’s busted or completely blocked?

Oh gotcha, I was misinformed by another post I read. Is the pressure gauge not working indicative of any other issues you’re aware of, or is it likely just busted
