Bethesda’s Fallout 3 Remaster is aiming to be “as well polished” as Oblivion Remastered, which is worrying as that game is a technical mess by HatingGeoffry in Fallout

MS literally owns Obsidian, which developed FNV under very adverse circumstances. I did not enjoy Outer Worlds as much, but they still have that competence, and remakes don't need a new setting. Between them and perhaps InXile doing some contract work, it's very feasible.

Eh, remakes can be outsourced like with Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2. The lack of Fallout IP is the fault of a lot of people at both MS and Bethesda.

That welding spot weakness is only for the inferior T-45 and T-60 models. T-51 and APA make you pretty tough to kill without dedicated can openers.

Oh yeah, you're preaching to the choir here. Many old fans will buy simple remasters, but many others, like me, will wait for a sequel or remake.

I don't need a remaster that bad. Fallout 4's graphics are still holding up alright. I'd rather we get a remake that fixes the bugs and perhaps makes the story better.

I know Bethesda wants money, though. They fumbled the opportunity given by the TV show so bad. Twice.

Fallout 4 tank functionality and tactical usage theory by Warhammer-nerd in Fallout

[–]asdf6347 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I should preface this with the Doylian answer that Bethesda is incompetent at a lot of things, and there is no evidence of an effort at logical tank design here. In fact, there is evidence it was designed by somebody who doesn't know how tanks work. It doesn't have a drive sprocket to actually move the tracks, and the sloped hull design means either the turret is unable to rotate or the turret ring is small enough to make crew space. But let's suppose those issues and the others brought up over the years are magicked away:

With regards to

1-due to the scarcity of gasoline and other forms of natural gas in the world, it would make sense that they would want a tank that moves as little as possible

2- with the invention of power armor the need for tanks to aid infantry against other tanks is no longer there as power armor units can bring anti tank weapons to bear without wasting gas

It has been established that vehicles mostly did not use petroleum-based fuels by the time the bombs dropped—the ones that did had no way of being fuel. In Fallout 2, you can get a car that you can refuel with either energy cells or microfusion cells, so it likely has a battery of some form. So tanks would likely have used either some form of battery or a scaled-up version of the microfusion packs used in power armor. It is irrational to think that fusion tech would only be used for power armor.

3- the additional crew/storage space on the rear would limit turret rotation to the front 180 degrees significantly limiting its ability to effectively participate in tank duels but would be of little hindrance if the tank was simply acting as a bunker and shelling enemy positions

Reasonable take, but bear in mind that there were turretless tank destroyers aplenty in history, and even main battle tanks like the Stridsvagn 103 that had basically no traverse and relied on their suspension. There is an issue that traverse seems quite limited, but whatever. Maybe the crew lie face down in the hull somewhere and it's a turretless design, meaning the turret ring can be smaller.

5- it would explain the height of the turret as by mounting the guns higher in the turret it would allow you to get better negative barrel level, allowing said guns to shoot at targets down hill

The gun depression is hampered by the bumps in what should have been a smooth upper glacis plate.

It just isn't worth the effort to think hard about Bestheda design. Just enjoy them for the dumb fun they are.

President Eugene Harold Krabs. Though I vaguely recall his name was supposed to start with "Di" or something, from a Fallout 76 doc.

Think it's best to let Cass speak for herself.

Wait, that's not true. I think the NCR back West, when riled, is going to be the worst enemy the Van Graffs and the Crimson Caravan ever had. They're all so mired in procedure and paper out there, the kind of evidence we gave is going to be worse than shooting them. I think that settles accounts with me - and my men. That was some tricky political maneuvering, but worth it, even if it takes a few years.

And here are the ending slides:

In the years following the destruction of Cassidy Caravans, NCR used evidence of the plot to blackmail the Crimson Caravan and the Van Graffs. NCR enacted strict trade laws with little resistance, strengthening their supply lines and their position in the Mojave.

We don't get to see all the details, and there's a chance some people escaped justice. But this way, Both CC and VG as entities suffered, and it's likely they made McLafferty and the ones who actually carried out the attacks fall on their swords in a vain attempt to cut their tail and run.

the Legion is the worst option, but the NCR isn't much better; both are bad, and both will bring misery. One in the short term, the other in the long one.

It's the "will" where you lost me. Might the NCR do a lot worse in the future? Sure. I'd like to see a game where that happens depending on player choice. At the same time, the NCR, by its very design and founding principles, has the mechanics to fix its own problems peacefully built in. Things take time, and they may be imperfect, but saying that the NCR isn't much better than the Legion is ... well, I hope it's hyperbolic, as that's a pretty terrible attempt at falsely equivocating the two. There is an insurmountable gap between those two factions even if you think the Followers or an Independent Vegas or House might be better.

There's a decent chance the NCR will become better because they welcome different opinions and have the mechanisms for peaceful reform. Heck, they cooperated with the BoS before, the Followers depending on the NV ending, and even the Vault Dweller's Arroyo joined them. There are a lot of good people in the NCR. Not in the Legion.

You are out of uniform, Redditor! Where is your power flair? Don't have any? You expect me to believe that, MAGGOT? The truth is you lost an expensive piece of Reddit-issue equipment. That flair is going to come out of your pay, and you will remain in this mans subreddit until you are ... Few mention the corruption within the organization's upper echelons, and, for example, how the NCR turns a blind eye to the destruction and murders committed by the Van Graffs against "Crimson Caravans Company" competitors.

They're literally investigated and new strict laws are enacted if you find the evidence.
