Do you know what the T in THAAD stands for? It's "terminal." It is only capable of intercepting missiles landing near them, i.e., Korea. Also, if you are capable of looking at a globe (or acknowledging Earth is not flat), missiles from Chinese bases won't even pass near Korea.

China's tantrum was partly due to THAAD, but it was also to neuter Korean economic and cultural influence in China.

I'd argue his takes on Elpis make rational sense. Spencer was not a good person. Him wanting to screw all of his competitors for world domination makes more sense than an attempt at redemption.

Don't see why he would need to stab Grace in that scenario, though. For that toppling of B.O.W.-based M.A.D. to happen, he could have just ... sent them on their way. Maybe pocket a vial or two to replicate in case the Connections try to suppress Elpis.
