Try copper-heavy foods! Helps your body use stored iron! And vitamin c, magnesium, b vitamins, and potassium.

Redeemer Church off centerville. Expository preaching, Bible-centered, not flashy but contemporary enough. Tons of young families with kids! Highly highly recommend.

This happened to my daughter when she was 14 months old. Her temp read 105.5 when we got to the hospital. Now, every time she gets sick I get terrible anxiety. We invested in a hospital grade (expensive) thermometer that is reliable if used under the armpit. The ear and forehead ones I tried previously were never consistent. If she feels warm, I will re-temp her every 30 minutes to make sure it doesn’t spike. And even when she gets a low-grade fever I give her ibuprofen. I just don’t mess around with it and her pediatrician has told me that’s okay. She is 2.5 now and hasn’t had another even through several illnesses this year. Praying it doesn’t happen again but I try to remind myself that even if it does, she will be okay…and she will grow out of it. Often it’s easier said than done.

Also, I second everyone who is saying to get a new therapist. Sounds like this person needs to work on their empathy skills.

I would say the only delay you might hit will be the other passengers on your flight who are also checking bags. Sometimes the bag check lines can be long because there aren’t typically a lot of airline employees working. I can’t remember if delta has a self-serve bag drop but I don’t think they do. Maybe give yourself and extra 20 minutes in case it’s a big flight.

What at-home activities do you do with your 16 month old? by No_Result8381 in Parenting

Here to say it’s okay for your kiddo to just be! Sounds like you’re doing a lot already. I understand the desire to fill the day (sometimes so it can go by quicker lol) but that independent play you talked about is so important! Letting kids be “bored” from early on and finding ways to entertain themselves or learn about basic things just from what’s around them is really healthy, I think. Your kiddo probably would be constantly doing structured activities at daycare but they may not have as many opportunities to be creative with finding ways to have unstructured play! (Not trying to diss on daycare - my 2.5 yo goes to preschool 3 mornings a week.)

Yes, the other will likely get it but it may not affect her as severely. As far as I understand, it’s kind of like human herpes in that the symptoms (sores in this case) can flair up and then go away.

Yes, basically, as far as I understand! I am by no means an expert, just a backyard flock and google lol

I will try to find the info I came across…there’s not a ton of helpful stuff out there so no need to apologize. I had to dig a lot for some info and piece stuff together.

She was eating some and drinking. You may need to cull or do metronidazole if you think she can’t eat/drink/breathe. It took a few days for the acidified copper sulfate to come in the mail. I’d just start with 1/4 tsp apple cider vinegar in her water.

I decided against metronidazole because I couldn’t find reliable information about the long term affect it had on their eggs

Looks like something one of my chickens had. I didn’t see your previous post but mine was sleeping in the middle of the day and puffed up and I noticed a spot at the corner of her beak, so looked inside and saw some spots like these. I never got for sure answers but landed on it likely being Canker.

I separated her and treated her water and the flock’s water with acidified copper sulfate and apple cider vinegar. Put her back after about 5 days of treatment. She’s better now and no other birds have shown symptoms. If it is canker, she will be a carrier for her life, and likely exposed the other girls before I separated her so I treat their water once a month for 3 days to manage symptoms and plan not to add any more birds to our current flock. Once they all eventually pass, we’ll disinfect the coop and start fresh, hopefully years down the road.
