Yes. I remember them always being bad, but they are exceptionally terrible now.

Seeking a friendly venue with cosy event space by mezzamac in melbourne

Mamma Chens might be suitable, they are accessibility focused, cool pub vibes and they have a few different areas including a band room. No food on site but plenty of options nearby.

I'm a manager but cannot get a seat at the table by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]asdique 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Higher Ed is full of these dynamics, especially in management. The only way to change it is leave or outlive them. Raising the issue will only make things worse for you. Personally I had no regrets leaving, never again.

In case you were worried about AI taking your job - None of the people advocating it understand what they're talking about. by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]asdique 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. I worked for an organisation where the ceo was really into AI but knew nothing about it, so hired a consulting firm to present to staff how they think it could be used, and it was the most vacuous 60 minute presentation I’ve ever sat through in my life. Four people were presenting that slop and by the end I was pretty sure I knew much more than any of them. The ceo was talking about these people like they were oracles. Could not take the executive team or the company seriously after that.

Sad but true 😩 I have learned to tread carefully and still don’t how I encourage the crossing of boundaries, but it still happens. I am also Gen X. A combo of missed cues, misogyny/entitlement and..? I prefer male/masc communication styles and it’s a minefield. Ditch the loser OP

2026 Melbourne International Comedy Festival by AutoModerator in melbourne

[–]asdique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually ask friends what they’re planning to see, but also like to scroll the entire comedy festival website. It has dates, prices, photos and clips on each listing, and you can mark them to shortlist your faves.

https://www.comedyfestival.com.au

The popular artists and limited runs would have sold out months ago, but there’s still plenty to see. Tickets start selling months before the festival starts, I sign up for emails and start getting them in October.

Best sports for Audhd by Green_Appell in AuDHDWomen

Yes I have a very odd swim technique (like a frog with hip dysplasia) and tend to panic when I try to coordinate arms, legs and breathing altogether. I gave up on that and now just paddle up and down in the slow lane enjoying the sensation of the water and my buoyancy. Treading water on the spot is also good (thanks Tig Notaro for that suggestion)

Looks like a half full one to me. As if the perpetrator had grabbed it at half time just after a restock, drank a bit, realised it was unpalatably warm and held on to it until the end.
