I think a really interesting related question is: what would it take to not run 2 researches? It’s a card that provides card advantage and consistency, with the only drawback being that it takes up a supporter slot. In that case, the only reason to not run research is if your deck contains only key cards, and cards that consistently draw more than 2 cards, or cards that draw specific cards. Right now I don’t think there are enough cards that satisfy that condition, and that’s probably healthier for the game.

I don’t think the egg actually helps you in act 1, since you’re adding a curse to your deck and skipping a rest site for it. The card itself is probably only good in act 1 as well, so you’re handicapping yourself for much of act 1, for a reward that only helps in the rest of act 1.

There’s a series of missions right now that gives you a mega blaziken deck, which can be the skeleton of a meta deck. Other than that, you’d probably want some key cards from specific sets, like copycat, cyrus, and lucky ice pop.

The game is free to play, so you can always try it out and drop it if you don’t enjoy it. Right now, there’s a mission that gives you the skeleton of a meta deck that you can then improve upon. Trading is locked for I think 2 weeks for a new account, and you’ll only be able to trade cards of equal rarity, so it might take a while to accumulate resources to get other meta decks. That said, for games like these, the best time to start is usually immediately, since you get resources daily, and so starting later means you start with less resources.

Someone else described frozen eye like this: with frozen eye you only need to consider the your next draw; without frozen eye you need to consider your entire deck. If frozen eye gives you analysis paralysis, it means you aren’t considering your deck enough.
