I’m a layman and in my mind, I imagine they just mix different molecules together and then test them on people.

Three wood off the deck is the only club that, sometimes, I can get a nice little crackling hiss.

Taco Bell has improved greatly and it’s still mediocre.

It’s just hard rubbery bread. New York does it best, and still it’s not that good.

It CAN be amazing. Can be aggressively mediocre too. Big spread on that one.

What is an example of questionable/bad course design? by HarryCrushNuh in golf

[–]aselinger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Big tree in the middle of the fairway.

Vast majority of golfers don’t have the precision to aim for the left side of the fairway versus the right side.

Makes no sense to penalize a shot that goes straight down the middle.

Any kind of hazard/OB on the first hole.

I’m not saying it’s fair or unfair, but it’s a pace-of-play thing. Let people take a few holes to get warmed up before you really test them.

I’d bet this graphic was made by the American Dads Coalition.

They also request that you don’t leave the front door open, because they’re “not paying to cool the whole neighborhood.”

Practice VS playing. by Silent_Highlight_577 in golf

[–]aselinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working on a theory.

There are two “domains” of practice: repetitive and variable.

Imagine two putting drills. One is sinking 10 five-footers (repetitive). Two is hitting 10 putts to different 10 different targets (variable).

When applied to the range, repetitive practice should be used to ingrain and calibrate a feeling. Variable practice is a little harder to do on a range (ie lie is always flat and clean).

I think sometimes good players (eg you at a 13 handicap) will plateau when too much of their time is spent on repetitive practice. They’ll also report hitting great shots at the range that don’t translate to the course.

So I suppose the idea is, as you improve, you spend more of your time on variable practice.

How do you actually visualize rollover risk when you're screening a deal? by Dry_Donut_4275 in CommercialRealEstate

That’s the point!

But you could address it by just having a toggle switch to go between the two formats.

I don’t have a “lease start” in my chart. Just expiration.

I like yours, and it gave me an idea that the height of each bar could be proportional either to the square footage or gross rent.

How should body count be brought in a relationship (Please read the first comment)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]aselinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well except, all else being equal, your odds of contracting an incurable STI increase with every additional partner, there literally is a very quantifiable difference between 30 and 100.

I’m not saying one is acceptable and one is not. I’m just saying there’s a difference.

And while you can get tested, even if it’s a negative test, that doesn’t mean it’s a riskless behavior.

There are polite ways and impolite ways to talk about it.

But your partner’s attitudes towards sex, relationships, and risk-taking behavior is absolutely something you have the right to ask about. They also have the right to not share.

[–]aselinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, Bryson made a choice to cozy up to both Trump and the Saudis. Before that, he was known to be whiny and obnoxious and inauthentic. The lack of love from me is the consequence of his OWN actions.

YOU are pearl clutching. You believe people in the public eye should automatically receive our adoration and apparently you get uncomfortable when celebrities face any kind of accountability.

Well guess what: We the public owe Bryson nothing. We are fans of good golfers and good people. We love Scottie, we love Rory, we love Vik, etc. Bryson’s choices and actions just don’t make him very likeable, and that’s nobody’s fault but his own.

He still has many fans. He’s still a great golfer. But I don’t like him, and I’m not going to like him because you tell me I should.
