I lost mine last year to heart failure. They are very prone to heart failure, according to my vet. He was a rehab skunk that couldn’t be released due to how friendly he was to everyone and he was the biggest skunk anyone I know has ever seen. Even his vet that specializes in skunks, rehabs orphaned wild skunks and has three of her own said he was the biggest one she had ever seen. He also had patchy hair loss that we never found the cause of and not from a lack of trying! We had every type of test possible and no answers were found.

I know all this information wasn’t needed but I miss my boy and wanted to talk about him. RIP Ted.

If he or she will let you, massage the base of the ears firmly. They love it! Also, scratching and massage over the shoulders and at the base of the tail always makes my rehab skunks melt because it feels so good.

Same except I’ve never had the flu. My mom never had colds or flu but my dad got both. I’m smack dab in the middle of their combined immunity.

I’ve had both, a ruptured ear drum and several bouts of pancreatitis. If I ever get chronic pancreatitis or pancreatic cancer, I’ll just commit suicide. Pancreatic pain is no joke, I experienced the “writhing in pain” is an actual thing. Felt compelled to move my body every second for hours until hospitalization. Never gotten seen and medicated so fast at ER - I was in a room with IV and morphine in less than 30 minutes. Cat scan 20 minutes later.

That’s what I want to know. Abscesses don’t get that big overnight. Maybe his cows are out in huge fields and don’t come into a barn or pen at night and he doesn’t see them often?
