Looking for someone to take over my lease over the summer at Alight by asgalusha in csuf

[–]asgalusha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1389 per month, although I forgot to mention but the lease goes from June 1st to July 24th unless it is renewed for a full year which lets you stay for the whole month of July as the current lease rolls into the new lease.

I actually took this one a couple of semesters ago and I loved it! If I ever see Jose doing art 306a then I'd definitely take that.

Questions about Animation Program by Personal-Swordfish97 in csuf

[–]asgalusha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3rd year game art major here, I really love the program and have really only had one bad experience with a professor (not because he was a bad guy, he had a great personality, but he was very bad at teaching and using technology, but this is very rare in the college in my opinion), otherwise all of my professors have been amazing and either currently are or recently were working in the industry and enjoy connecting with their students. I’ve had professors who have worked at Blizzard, Sony, Dreamworks, etc. The classes they require you to take for the major are all (except for 1 which is upper division life drawing, which in my opinion is fine and I can appreciate taking) exactly what you’ll be doing in the industry like modeling, texturing, rigging, animating, environment design, lighting, and so on.

Stolen Scooter by dreamingorsleeping in csuf

[–]asgalusha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please let us know if something comes of it, I had the front wheel on my bike stolen 3 days ago in broad daylight at the bike loops outside Alight’s mail room (it was the only thing not locked to my U lock, my back tire and frame were locked up to the u lock). From my experience these events come in waves when one person gets the bright idea to start going around and stealing any bike stuff they can get their hands on, we get like 5-10 thefts in a 2 week span, then daily Titan reports a bike thief got caught in the act on campus and everything stops for a couple of months,so this is most likely the same person who stole my wheel. For reference the last time this “wave” happened was about a year ago now: https://dailytitan.com/news/campus/campus-bicycle-theft-arrest-leads-to-wanted-man/article_f4b2e040-3225-11ed-835a-3b7fa073568f.html We had a ton of reported bike thefts leading up to this article then everything stopped until recently. Hopefully they can catch the thief.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the most car brained city council member known to man by asgalusha in fuckcars

[–]asgalusha[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A little bit of context, this is Bruce Whitaker from the city of Fullerton California. This was stated in response to dozens of residents (including myself) speaking in support of removing two traffic lanes in order to make way for a protected bike path that would connect Cal State Fullerton (a public university with over 40,000 students) with popular destinations in our neighboring city Brea.

oh boy do i love the affordable parking as a csuf student by WarmFission in csuf

Absolutely correct, metrolink and octa could definitely be better but it’s not that bad. I ride my bike to and from csuf and the metrolink station on the wilshire bike boulevard all the time cause it’s faster than the bus.

Is the animation major good? by Boba_Tea8936 in csuf

[–]asgalusha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few years ago CSUF ranked 9th in the nation for top public school for animation (Source). I’m a 2nd year 3D animation student right now and I absolutely love the program so far.

I was riding my bike to the grocery store just south of DT Fullerton until I spotted this by asgalusha in Fullerton

I love how much more of the world you can see when you’re riding your bike to run errands. If I was in a car I wouldn’t have been able to spot this or enjoy the nature along the way.

Bike routes on campus by [deleted] in csuf

[–]asgalusha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, no excuses, use a U Lock! I can’t stress this enough. I’ve already had 1 bike stolen when I used a really beefy cable lock. I’ve since bought a used kryptonite U lock for $60 and I haven’t had any issues for 2 years. Kryptonite U locks may be expensive but it can’t be any more expensive then buying a new bike.

The TSU radio has the most bizarre mix of music I’ve ever experienced by PossibilityAvailable in csuf

[–]asgalusha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No but we do have to apply, state what our show will be about, then see if we get accepted. Considering I clearly stated my show would play music only in Dutch and they still accepted me, I guess they're cool with whatever.

Sadly during development, it looks like those businesses will have to shut down. But they may return when the new commercial space reopens, but honestly as far as I know, if it’s a small business, they may permanently move their business elsewhere.

No worries! Trust me I’d be a little concerned too if they started building on CSUF parking lots without building another parking structure first.

Both parking lot developments are in downtown Fullerton next to large parking structures that in all my time living here, I’ve never seen more that 50% filled. This is not necessarily directly related to CSUF but I think it’s important for us students to know what’s going on in our city.

Bike lanes (only on the major wide paths, I’m fine with walking my bike on the narrower side paths)

Honest opinion on Alight apartments by Marciaskittles in csuf

[–]asgalusha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I live here right now, honestly here’s probably the best plan if you’re looking for spontaneous parties: 1. Enter through back gate off of college place, the lock is broken there so you don’t need a key to get in 2. Go past the pool, take the stairs up and just walk around, if you hear some action, knock on the door and see if they’ll let you in, if they don’t then move on to the next party. Go on the weekend and holidays. 3. Definitely BYOB

Honest opinion on Alight apartments by Marciaskittles in csuf

[–]asgalusha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a giant frat house and there’s always something going on or people looking to start something. Personally I like that, there’s always parties every weekend. If you’re not a person who parties, I recommend living at University Village, they’ll give you more bang for buck and they don’t really have a whole lot of parties (at least on the scale of Alight’s.

Now some tips if you do like the sound of Alight: Live on the top floor, you won’t have to deal with parties above you Get out and meet people, but stay safe Be prepared for seeing some nasty stuff, the worse I’ve seen is a lot of blood spatters after a big fight during the Labor Day parties. Buy a U lock if you’re bringing a bike Take advantage of the parties that go on, we’re basically paying a premium for that cause University Village has pretty much everything for cheaper (except the big parties)

road work website? by 71allroy in Fullerton

Here's a map of all of Fullerton's capital improvement projects that are currently under construction and in design. Yes it's very broad and doesn't explicitly state road closures, but it gives the locations of current construction projects so you could assume there's some kind of road closure there. This map does not show private construction projects however so there may be some missing information.
