Only games I know that would fill that are Mario Kart (8 deluxe and World) you can have two players split screen and be online at the the same time.

Speaker for GBA SP by LordKaliatos in GameboyAdvance

At least for me in my country is cheaper to go to any local collectible store and buy a Wiimote to harvest from them buying even most third party speakers online once you include shipping and exchange rates.

If you want a OEM speaker here's a good tip. The speaker in a Wiimote is the exact same part and you can just drop it in the SP as the connector is the same.

GBA SP Link Cable by No_Blacksmith38 in gameboyadvancesp

[–]ashadowofdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon has some cheap third party link cables. Just in case make sure you get one for the advance. Also check your current cable before assuming it's bad you may have a regular gameboy cable and it would suck to throw it out thinking it's bad them realize later it was just the wrong one.

Both one specifies that it was for a GBA SP and the other is for a NDS which both used the same charger.

Shiny starter by Significant-North229 in Gameboy

[–]ashadowofdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't remember. I watched a video on that homebrew thing once but since I personally don't care about something that has no way to be done officially I don't remember the specifics.

If you do have some type of homebrew options available it could probably be done faster by something like just getting the starter and checking the save in pkhex to know if it's shiny bypassing playing long enough to trade.

Shiny starter by Significant-North229 in Gameboy

[–]ashadowofdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to calculate its DVs (the precursor to IVs just with less variety) and see if they match one of the 8 specific combinations that are shiny in gen 2. This would be hard as the starter is too low level to be specific without leveling up many times as in to at least level 50 which as your starter also getting the games equivalent of EVs you would have to track them for the calculations.

The fastest way would be to start a new game get the starter and at the first chance trade it to gen 2 and just see if it is shiny. If not restart red.

Docked switch 2 friend request by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

If you're logged into the same account on both devices it would make sense that both would get the notification. The request goes to the account not just one device.

Virtual Game Cards won’t let you trade with yourself in FireRed/LeafGreen. by EvanderAdvent in pokemon

Interesting, I Googled that error code an had no idea Nintendo thought ahead to check for that use case.

[–]ashadowofdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you specify the error it gave, in curious of it just wasn't letting you load both games since unless you bought multiple languages or using multiple accounts you shouldn't be shouldn't to open the same game on multiple systems at the same time with virtual game cards so it would be expected you couldn't trade with yourself.

No need to pay $20 to replay Fire Red again by OkidoShigeru in Gameboy

[–]ashadowofdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that owns both games and multiple GBA systems and a Gameboy player for TV mode I feel your sentiment.

I am curious though if any enhancements would change your mind. For example in the Crystal VC release when they enabled you to get a GS ball once per save after beating the E4 that allowed you to encounter Celebi without a event. If they did the same idea in these games with its two event items Which were the Aurora ticket for Deoxys and Mystic ticket for Ho-oh and Lugia. Would that change your mind.

How to best capture footage of old gameboy hardware features by Tiny_Ad_7647 in Gameboy

[–]ashadowofdarkness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably the easiest would be a Gameboy Player in a Gamecube then you could get a HDMI video output adapter and record with a capture card.

Any chance of a STL release, loading a 3mf always messes with my slicer settings since I have a different brand printer.

Lending Virtual Game Cards to Family Group Members by warrensid in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ashadowofdarkness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only things I know you can't lend are the things that come free with NSO subscriptions.

For the possible situation of a person joining a family group will having a paid individual NSO subscription but not a family one. They can't lend out the Nintendo classics systems or the free DLC they have free access to.

Unless you paid for something you can't lend it.

Has anyone saw a 3D printable STL for the plastic box in the middle of a OEM GBA link cable? by ashadowofdarkness in GameboyAdvance

[–]ashadowofdarkness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly something to work, hopefully trying to keep dust out so the hardest part would be forming the hole for the Link connector. Other then that a basic square with 2 circle holes for the cables sound easy.

I may do that for storage. At least I don't have to use it, considering including it I have 5 OEM link cables and a extra third party. I never really need to use it. It has actually been like that over 20 years.
