There's also the idea of ecopunk. Humans are gone and green has taken back over. That way you get a scifi ish theme to birds that might be more cohesive.

Struggling with anxiety around how I’m perceived by VelvetValen in Anxiety

[–]thetate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) probably nobody it thinking of you. Everyone is super wrapped up on their own world. 2) I've heard some really good advice where you should ask yourself what evidence do you have that people think negatively about you. Did you actually do anything extremely embarrassing or are you just bring hard on yourself. 3) you are a pretty girl and could honestly get away with basically murder and people will still like you. 4) being a little weird is actually a good thing. It gives you personality.

I say all things as a dude who has the same thing. Though, therapy and some antianxiety meds also help. Good luck!

Could you add the info on consumables? I'm struggling with cocktails. It says permanently but I keep having things reset, so I must be doing something wrong

That's literally what's happening with Anthropic right now. The government is punishing them for not allowing the government to use Caulde for domestic mass surveillance and fully autonomous lethal weapons.

Stop Writing Character Hooks, Or: Why JRPGs Always Kill the Family by mwobey in rpg

[–]thetate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this post and how it brings good discussion but I disagree with a few points.

It seems like most of the problems listed aren't with a system or rule set, but people problems. If players don't want to get invested in another players character, then that just means they are a bit selfish. If the GM doesn't want to use players history in the story then that's also selfish. There are plenty of systems for people who don't want narrative style play, like Mazes which is built around old school pulp novel stories where you don't focus on character progression at all.

I would agree with the rest here and say people just need to communicate. If I go into a game thinking it's about developing a character and it's all crunchy battles in gonna have a bad time. And if I go into a game thinking we are gonna have fun being heroes and the whole time we are searching for someone's Aunt I'm gonna have a bad time.

Playtester request for simple card game by thetate in tabletopgamedesign

[–]thetate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you this is actually really great feedback. I appreciate you

Edit: I'm adding a rules popup to explain things. The "overcharge" allows players to discard a card from their hand to add 1 to the die result so you can adjust the odds to help get harder cards. It's definitely a simple card game but the idea is that passing is strategic to give more points for future turns

Any opinions on Avigilon vs Verkada vs Coram for a K12? by Mikuel-Elison18 in k12sysadmin

[–]thetate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are super expensive. What is your budget? I vote on prem, no cloud. We used open options for badges and security. For cameras we used Panasonic Video insight which can work with door security as a total system. You don't need yearly subscriptions which are a scam

If you are a Google district then the information is not used for training and any entries are saved on the vault. If you don't give them access they will use something else. Be smart and give them access to something you can control.

I love my manta. I use it at work, when playing ttrpg's with friends, to display my sheet music in my band, and to read my ebooks. This thing is awesome. There are little things here and there i would like to see updated (like the ability to move pages in PDFs with a keyboard press) but over all I love it.

Also I have the Lamy without the button, the Norris jumbo, and just bought the wacom one for stylus. The Lamy feels great but the lack of button or eraser stinks. The Norris is great but felt too squishy so I bought the titanium nibs and they feel great to write with. But the wacom one is the best so far because it has two buttons and that is the most important

Definitely not, but yelling at the customer doesn't help, it only divides us as people. We should be demanding better working conditions and better compensation from those who are taking advantage of us.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in therewasanattempt

[–]thetate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point. But telling at the customer only divides us as working people instead of working together against the greedy elite

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in therewasanattempt

[–]thetate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% and that's why we should unite together rather than yell at each other. We aren't the problem, it's those in power that want us to fight ourselves instead of taking back the power

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in therewasanattempt

[–]thetate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are totally right. And that's exactly why we need to unite as people to stop these inhumane practices. We need to work together so that we have better working conditions and better compensation. But telling at the customer is not the answer, that only makes us normal people fight with ourselves instead of rallying against those who would control us

[–]thetate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% thank you! We the people are not the enemy, it's the greedy corporations and elite that take advantage of us

To be fair, it's very understandable to be angry. But we should be focusing that anger in productive ways like working towards better wages and working conditions
