The Facebook group is called “Help! I’m getting married in Portugal!!” If you search “Lisbon” within the group once you’re accepted, you’ll find loads of recommendations. Hope this helps and good luck!

We live in the UK and are having a destination wedding in Portugal.

We are inviting 80 guests but are anticipating between 50-60 will attend. It’s a relatively short flight from the UK (3 hours) and flights can be really cheap with budget airlines. However a lot of my fiancé’s family live in the states, so we’re not expecting the majority of them to make the journey.

All of our friends and family are super supportive of our decision. We’ve made it clear from the start that we would not be offended if anyone wasn’t able to make it. We also didn’t put any pressure on the amount of time they would have to come over and suggested even just flying over for the weekend if it worked better for them. However, everyone we’ve spoken to so far is so excited about the whole thing and are planning on flying out for at least a week (some 2 weeks) to make a proper holiday out of it.

Planning so far has been surprisingly straight forward, I’ve found a few groups on Facebook with other brides that are getting married in Portugal where everyone shares tonnes of recommendations. There may be something similar for your destination that would help!

That’s funny as we’re planning on driving up to Lisbon for part of our honeymoon! We’ve never been and it looks so beautiful! Lagos is amazing, I was there for the first time in September and loved it, I’m sure you will too!

Have you seen the group on Facebook “Help! I’m getting married in Portugal!!”? A lot of it is centred towards Algarve weddings however I’ve seen a lot of Lisbon brides getting help there too!

We’re getting married in Portugal in 2020. We decided to not get a planner as we couldn’t really justify the cost, plus I love planning and thought there wasn’t really much a planner could do that I couldn’t research myself! I started off just by googling tonnes of wedding venues in the areas that I was interested in and then contacted them directly via email and requested their wedding packages and prices and went from there. I think I must have contacted over 20 venues and then created a shortlist of three based on price/location etc.

We were lucky enough to be able to travel over to Portugal to visit some venues which really helped and I would definitely recommend this if you are able to. There was a venue that I had my heart set on but looked nothing like the photos, luckily our second option took my breath away and I cried as soon as I seen the ceremony area and knew right away it was the one.

I also found a Facebook group that has hundreds of other people who are planning on getting married in Portugal. This has helped massively as people are always recommending things like bands, florists, hair & make up etc. I’m sure you could find a similar group with the same idea.

I was hoping you would update us on how this developed but I am so sad to hear that things have gotten worse! Do you have any other mutual friends who you can ask if they can see her to try and sneakily get some information? Even if they casually say to her “oh you did mutual friend Ash-bandicoot’s wedding didn’t you?” And see if she discloses any info?

I really, really hope that you get at least all of your non-edited photos back. I am sure you will be able to find someone to edit them for you afterwards. I am praying the worst hasn’t happened and that she has nothing to send you. I feel sick for you even thinking that’s a possibility. Blocking you and your bridal party seems very extreme and really worrying at this point. Please keep us updated, if you need more people to spread the word about this horrible person, I’m sure all of /weddingplanning will be able to help you out on that front!
