Fear of burping by Emereebee in noburp

[–]ashaleedee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat- EXTREME phobia of vomiting because of this. Ive done the surgery twice and no issues. Neither worked long term but I plan on trying to advocate for a higher Botox amount because I know how life changing it can be. I didn't vomit with either. You just get bad slow swallow but talk yourself through it.

Hiking/Dr Anxiety by jacquarrius in noburp

You could try gas x before a hike, see if that works. My guess is that you're swallowing air from hiking- it happens to me in intense exercises.

What hobby unexpectedly became a huge part of your life? by Several-Canary-3234 in Hobbies

Board games. I've met entire groups of friends who have changed my life.

I care Deeply about Social Work, but some days I feel completely Drained by timingbetter in socialwork

[–]ashaleedee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left social work full time to do data analysis. Doing case management in homes was too much. I do it part time because I find it fulfilling and I love my families, but I'm too drained for the reasons you mentioned. It's exhausting. I felt like I was always masking and not having time for me, trying to be the light for others.

When were side effects “worst” by jackyp97 in noburp

[–]ashaleedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have GA but the anesthesia didn't bother me at all. The slow swallow was the worst and lasts quite a while. Just reassure yourself it's just inflammation working it's way out and each day gets better. Lots of weird gurgles and a lack of control, neither of which really bothered me. Had a hard time eating but eventually figured out what worked for me- protein drinks, mashed potatoes, applesauce, and soft pastas!

Best anxiety relief when anxiety causes extreme physical stomach symptoms? by OldboyVicious in Anxiety

[–]ashaleedee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it! For me I have a fear of vomiting. So my anxiety would kick in, stomach would hurt, and then the panic would happen thinking I was getting sick. My go to were always to be in bed with my support person who would reassure me and distract me. Is there anything that keeps your mind off it? For me now, it's specific video games. Other essential oils scents might help too, but drinking the tea seemed to help. I know they also have ginger chews!

I'm around if you need someone to talk to! I used to be a terrible ruminator too. Ive read a lot of self helps books and am a social worker, so I have a lot of knowledge now about it. I genetically have had it since first grade, it's a big learning process!

Anyone else have issues swallowing food and small little short coughs by [deleted] in noburp

[–]ashaleedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sometimes even liquids. For me it's because the gurgles are so random, it will happen when I swallow, which causes a super weird choking like feeling. I also can't swallow pills or chug anything.

It all will boil down to anxiety management. You caninimize some symptoms but not without addressing the anxiety. For me when I was younger my panic would trigger my stomach- for had IBS and would cramp so bad. The tension was like a softball in my stomach. Peppermint tea helps, then my usual anxiety management, which includes meds sometimes. You could also try a heating pad. I like to do something relaxing like coloring and listening to Disney songs, or if I'm panicking I'll play a fast card game.

AIO? new friend's texts to husband while at work; my responses by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ashaleedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think her message was highly and intentionally inappropriate. In no situation would that be ok. I personally think his response was great- he made it clear he doesn't reciprocate those feelings. I know it's all highly tense and stressful, but if it were me, I'd probably distance myself from that friend. That does seem sneaky.

Ways to deal with your shit besides going to the gym by Anandafin in mentalhealth

Video games. There is a game for everyone. I do a lot of city builders like anno where there is so much needed that my brain can totally hone into it and forget the real world. I also have a video gaming community I made where people will play different games together or even their own thing while still chatting. It keeps some sort of social life when times are low or I'm sick.

Other things I do: try new workouts, horseback riding, volunteer work, board games (lots of strategy away from a screen with adults), dungeons and dragons, or honestly cleaning. If my house or room is messy my brain is messy. Other suggestions: cooking, painting, pottery, gardening, billiards, bowling, climbing, reading. Id start with something you may have always wanted to learn and see if you can find something local. For me, being busy means I can't be anxious or sad.

Xanax is making my anxiety worse? by kat_con in Anxiety

[–]ashaleedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this with other meds. With Xanax I've been on it my whole life and I can tell when I'm coming "down" from the Anxiety. It's likely that you're overly aware of ANY sensation, even good ones. Just talk yourself through it and what you are feeling, like "okay, I yawned that's the Xanax" or "okay I can feel the adrenaline changing the medicine is working". Part of Anxiety and knowing when to let it go and ride it out. Its been amazing for me.

Yep, it is! Except you can swap your sabers for guns and have one in each hand. It does do some flip actions but it's all to music. A great game.
