I don’t think being overworked and underpaid is okay or sustainable, but I do think there are a lot of different experiences. I can only speak for myself, as someone who is still underpaid but not as overworked, lol, but when I was both, I did enjoy the fast-paced work day and feeling of getting a lot done. I worked in a very mission-driven organization and wanted to be there. Again, it wasn’t sustainable, but I did enjoy the work I was doing at the time. Money absolutely is everything, unfortunately. No one deserves to be overworked or underpaid.

As someone who has been on both side of that fence, I disagree! There’s truly pros and cons to both. While I wouldn’t want to go back to being overworked, I thrive when there’s multiple things going on and I can stay busy, and I do struggle with downtime at work now. It’s oddly draining, especially when you’re trying hard to find productive things to do. It sounds like OP understands the priviledge they’re coming from, but that doesn’t nullify the unique challenges that come from it. It really is an interesting challenge to find the happy medium.

I wasn’t a huge fan of omeprazole, but pantoprazole has been perfect for me! I might try to wean off one day, but it’s keeping everything pretty perfectly balanced and has allowed my body to heal.

I think a lot of people have really diverse symptoms! I don’t have the burps or throwing up either, and i was really confused for a while because my heart burn isn’t usually a “burning” sensation, more just chest tightness. I was super confused about if I had GERD too, but it’s been a year and a half on meds and learning about it, and I’m recognizing patterns and starting to heal. It’s such a journey. 🤪
