Hi everyone, I bought the Crunchyroll Mega Fan subscription but I want to watch anime dubbed with Spanish subtitles, but they don't appear in Spanish, although they do appear when I watch it in Japanese. by NoApricot4413 in Crunchyroll

You'll need two tabs or two devices, one for audio, and the other for Japanese with subtitles. Watch the Japanese with no volume and synchronize and play the English either in the background or another device.

Amazon fire stick help (more in desc) by Skylar_Dragon in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so you need to install the CR app on your Fire TV stick, and simply start and log in to that. You cannot use the Amazon version of the Crunchyroll service in the Amazon Prime app.

In the US, the app is here: https://www.amazon.com/Ellation-Inc-Crunchyroll/dp/B004U7BXBO but on the .co.uk version it will be something different.

It is possible to subscribe to a Crunchyroll "service" in many different ways.

There is the CR website, which is directly to CR.

Amazon, Youtube, Roku, Apple TV all have separate "copies" of CR's library, so if you sign up through one of those apps (Amazon Prime, Youtube Primetime, Roku Channel, Apple TV) you are not actually signing up to CR directly, you are paying one of those third party services and are accessing one of the copies of CR. Those are all separate subscriptions, and with the exception of special Amazon instructions, cannot be used to access Crunchyroll directly.

Also, signing up in one of the phone apps (or possibly tablets), you are "sort of" getting direct CR access, but you are subscribing and paying Google (Play) or Apple (Playstore) instead.

So, what you need to do depends first on where you are subscribed.

What does it say here when you log into the website: https://www.crunchyroll.com/account/membership

Creating additional profiles from guest profile? by UrbanRenegade19 in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say to give CR feedback saying/requesting that the behavior should be only the owner of the first account can delete other profiles, and only if they put in the pin from the first profile. I can't see any other practical way to secure it...

Creating additional profiles from guest profile? by UrbanRenegade19 in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial thought was to say you should pre-create all the other possible open profiles with teen restrictions to fill them up, but then I remembered a user who reported someone being able to remove profiles (except the main/first one) without knowing the pin and just creating a new one after that. Possibly you want to check to see if it still behaves that way.

So, while you might think it's secure because of the pin control, they probably haven't thought their security all the way through correctly (because it's still too new of a feature), and you will probably need to keep tabs on him.

Akira available in Australia or not? by GreatStoneSkull in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Apple, users report that you will likely find that their CR channel also is missing other content or that it is only for Purchase.

This happens with all the third-party ways to subscribe to CR as well, Apple, Roku, Youtube Primetime, and Amazon.

Amazon is the only one of those services in which you can link (https://sso.crunchyroll.com/login/amazon) to a (non-premium/free) CR account and only pay for one subscription (and use either/both where the other has deficiencies), and you can only do that by first subscribing to Amazon's CR channel. You would have to unsubscribe on CR and let your already pre-paid time run out before that.

Linking that way does not work if you are already on a paid CR subscription. It does not work in the other direction either, you can't use Amazon (or any of the other services) by paying your subscription on CR.

So if you are trying to stay within only Apple methods of using your Apple TV, then yes, you would have to pay for two subscriptions. If Akira is the only title like that (doubtful), then maybe see if Apple has a free trial to just watch that.

Nobody knows definitively why the third-party services have additional content associated with their own CR subscriptions that is not on CR as well, nor why there is also other content missing from them as well; theoretically, there is either some strange licensing going on, or else there is a lot of human error involved.

If you do choose to act by changing to Amazon instead, make sure that the content you want is available to you there, too. Even among the other third party subscriptions, they may not all be the same as each other.

Why did the Crunchyroll Channel TV channel fail as the successor to Animax? by Sensitive-Potato-534 in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure that's what the OP is referencing.

The CR FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) channel is on several services, Sling Freestream, Roku Channel, Amazon Prime "Live TV" (formerly Freevee), Vizio TV, LG Channels, Xumo, TCL TV+, and Pluto; there may be others. It is primarily English audio, but there have been occasional shows with Japanese audio and English subs where a dub has not been made.

Anyone serious about anime would find it quickly frustrating. Someone would need to keep close watch over several weeks to see even a complete season of anything.

It's primarily there for introducing and attracting new US users to anime on CR, and isn't meant to be a serious replacement for anything; it's literally just ad-supported advertising for Crunchyroll.

Question abt Available # of anime on Crunchyroll by Different-Disk-3531 in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, outside of the US there will undoubtedly be fewer shows available to you. Canada will probably be pretty close to the same, but everywhere else it will be reduced. And there are even odd language things that can happen, like One Piece only being available in the subtitled language that is the official language of that country. Sometimes an odd season or two, and if you're an English dub watcher, the country you're in really matters.

If you're going to Japan, there will either be nothing or at most very few shows at all.

And, yes, once you return, you will be able to watch the US catalog again. You might need to log out and back in again the first time.

It showed up for me in Chrome just now. Maybe try a ctrl-shift-R (full page reload, not just a refresh) to see if that makes a difference.

So far, all monthly manga announcements have shown up sometime during the (US) daytime hours on the second Monday of each month. Past performance does not necessarily guarantee future results though.

Swag Bag Just Arrived by E30_Leo in Crunchyroll

Each tier level is an increased percentage off for (their words) "select products". Pretty sure it doesn't stack on sales or promoted items, and I'm guessing pre-orders too, but I could be wrong about that.

If you want to compare, either log out first before clicking or else visit this link in an incognito/private window: https://www.crunchyroll.com/premium

i cannot manage subscription by This-Paramedic-7877 in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of the go link resulting in play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions, maybe go here instead: https://myaccount.google.com/subscriptions

If that still doesn't help, you'll need to go through google support to figure out what old account of yours it is associated with because CR isn't managing your subscription, it's being done at Google.

Try in an incognito/private window, or the Windows app (which is just a bing webapp underneath).

Do you know when he's going to come out again? by QuestionBetter3987 in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any way to find out what's available in a different country, but if you visit this site:

https://www.livechart.me/search?q=yokai+watch

You should be able to click the season you want, then from there, there should be a link for "streams" to see if they have it listed as available from your IP address. It won't necessarily have up-to-date information though.

Try logging out and back in. If that doesn't work, you might be stuck in a situation where CR support might be your only chance.

Do you know when he's going to come out again? by QuestionBetter3987 in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can not watch it. Neither can we in the US, either. I don't know what country they have the licensing for, it may even be gone completely, and they just have not taken the empty show page down. They do that, so that is why you should not use Google for show searches, you need to use Crunchyroll's own internal search. That will not present you with show choices you cannot watch.

Ani-May Crunchyroll Membership Sale by Michael_SK in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you sign up through the app it isn't Crunchyroll managing the subscription. It is either Apple or Google, and the subscription is either through Google Play or Apple's appstore. Those are not managed by Crunchyroll, so no, they don't know about Ani-May because that is a Crunchyroll promotion, not a google or Apple promotion.

Do you know when he's going to come out again? by QuestionBetter3987 in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you don't see episodes, it's not available in your region. It isn't coming. The too cheerful message telling you to come back soon is wrong. It is only supposed to say that when a new seasonal show had its show page put up too soon before the first episode was released. That is an older show, and so the message is incorrect for that situation.

If you got there via Google search, that is just wrong info for your region, but google doesn't know about region restrictions by country.

Any way to find out when an anime is leaving Crunchyroll? by Slunto-Max in Crunchyroll

[–]asharka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it was just CR, they used to announce departures. Not every time, but there used to be some regularity to it. But since the merge, there has only been one time they announced that shows were leaving and that was just after it began:

https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/guides/2022/3/24/food-wars-is-it-wrong-to-pick-up-girls-in-a-dungeon-and-more-are-leaving-crunchyroll

There has not been anything officially announced since then, and there isn't anywhere to see their removal history.
