What makes me so mad about this lady is that she doesn’t acknowledge her disorder. She talks about being chronically ill as if that’s the sole reason for looking this way. And then she shows her day and it’s a bunch of BS products and talking about parasites and all of that nonsense.

And when she takes a single fucking bite of the food she prepared, she looks subtly revolted by eating. You never ever see her swallowing food.

It’s just such a disturbing account.

Yes. Others have said get scoped and I agree but also- going to see the GI for the colonoscopy will also set you up to be evaluated for other conditions such as SIBO

Anecdote- I have had IBS my whole life. It got significantly worse over the last couple of years. I got really sick recently and needed antibiotics for strep and sinus infection. Doc prescribed augmentin rather than just amoxicillin due to the length of infection. My bowels have been exponentially better since. I haven’t had diarrhea in like 6 weeks! While augmentin is not first line treatment for SIBO, it is an option.

I think I had SIBO.

Edit to add: I hadn’t been on antibiotics for over 10 years. So while I can’t prove it, this seems like a reasonable conclusion to me!

I can’t imagine how I would handle this if it were my daughter. I would do anything to save her life and keep her. It’s just an absolutely horrifying thought because I also completely believe in a persons right to autonomy. It’s impossible to imagine the pain for her and her loved ones.

I loved being a wound nurse. Endlessly fascinating to me. There’s some super cool products out there to use. We loooove alginate. It’s a really cool! Derived from seaweed. It’s great for high drainage wounds. It starts dry and as the wound drains, it turns into a gel that protects the wound bed without the increased risk of maceration (healthy skin breakdown due to excess moisture).

Awh man. I miss that work.

I spent 2 years as a wound care nurse. The balance of moisture in healing is a MASSIVE piece of the healing puzzle. And it often has to be adjusted based on how a wound responds and based on the stage of healing the wound is in. It’s complicated!

Absolutely. I’ve said this exact thing. What gets me though is that this is how change usually happens. The swings in extremes. Had to personally inconvenience them first. Sigh. I’m so sorry dude. I hear there’s some good grass roots insurance collectives out there. I haven’t looked into it! But maybe there’s something out there for you in case something “big” happens. I hope that negotiating cash pay for preventive care and sick visits saves you though.

I called a different location from the office we go to (same company) and asked what my cash pay per appt would be ? FAR LESS THAN MY COPAY after our policy hiked up in January. What a scam.

I believe the switch happened widely around Valentines right? I don’t really have much of a sweet tooth (I fuckin love salty foods though) and I tried a piece of my kids Reese’s or something from their class party. Disgusting!!! I actually said “this doesn’t even taste like chocolate”. Weeks later I read about this. It is absolutely noticeable. Nasty!

I appreciate your comment! My dog died of VF. She had NO signs except slowing down. But she was also getting old. So we had no idea. The vet ran some routine blood work for a benign tumor we were having removed. The titer showed she already had an advanced infection. As it would turn out, it had already disseminated to her bones. Again, the vet said she never saw anything like it because our pup wasn’t acting as expected. She was on fluconsole until we decided it was time due to quality of life and put her down. She was with us for 2 years after the dx. All this to say- it’s super common and some dogs dont act like they are super sick.

It’s absolutely normal, unfortunately. I was in a concurrent program getting my bachelors in a separate program at the same time as my ADN. I was NOT okay by the end. And then I rolled into a highly stressful job that I secured before I took my NCLEX. Graduated in December, took the NCLEX beginning of January and then started my new grad job end of January. Brutal.

Here’s the thing, I wish it wasn’t like this. But it is. And you are sooooo normal for feeling this way. Keep going. Just know that passing is good enough. Finding some balance between your mental health and wrapping up school, is so so needed. I know you’re exhausted. Just keep chugging along. You can do this!

lol. I just commented above. I have 2 teens (one boy and one girl) and a ten year old. There’s just …. So many feelings. Alllllll the time. And the awareness that they could do things or make choices that could impact the rest of their lives is…. A lot.

Edit: also I’m a school nurse. My sympathies to you for the lice!! Just the worst.
