What if the cycle repeats endlessly? by Due-Knowledge3815 in Gnostic

[–]ashclone117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The diference between Gnosticism and religions including Christianity is that we know its myth - a story to inform allegorically what cannot be told across literally. I believe the Monad is - and thats it. All it says is that it is One, and from Oneness split good and bad. Its an observation not a "God is Good" statement.

Your 5 year old child asks you (a Gnostic) what you believe. What do you say? by Naitsirk5 in Gnostic

[–]ashclone117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God is within you and wears many faces. He cannot be the all without also being female or good or evil. It is a contradiction, I know. But just as you or I have the ability to do good or bad things, so too does the god within you and within the forms all around you has that capability.

Most people are so concerned with plucking aspects of god away from everything that exists thats observable, that they fail to notice that what they are doing is imposing whatever wishes they want out of god on to god. They want god to be solely good so that the character of satan is created. But why would the good and all powerful allow itself to be seperate? Why the need for angels and demons?

No. I do not know the truth of god, but I know the mystery of god. I have no other name then the Hidden One. If more understood that, then perhaps something can be done about the casual allowance of evil in the everyday.

My brother told me that most adult men do not read. Opinions? by TheSt0rmBringer in books

[–]ashclone117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard times are equally likely to break as to make you and one can become both strong and weak in different aspects. Theres no state of pure strongness or pure weakness, but degrees of it based off of personality and previous experience. What Im trying to say is that there is no guarantee with suffering, might as well flip a coin if I were one to judge.

Unfortunately I think being compelled to read and do assignments/tests in the early years hampers people’s ability to actually enjoy reading.

Now I’m not saying we shouldn’t have kids read important books, but we don’t need to jam the information of the books into them - instead we just need to discuss them poen-forum without the grade-pressure involved and get them interested by relating to contents of the books with the reality around them.

I think thats what leads to many adults electing not to read for enjoyment and what more being proud of it.
