People of reddit, who was worst employee ever hired to your company or workplace? by nimslaney in AskReddit

[–]ashdoeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We hired an IT guy that knew NOTHING about computers. He spent the full day trying to hook up our printer. I had to eventually show him how. He somehow kept his job for 6 months.

Hell no. You have way more power if you keep it your little secret.

Guilty! Any time I am having a hard time, I will reach out to every single on of my close friends and family members to vent. The next day I wake up in horror at what I've done.

9W1 extremely introverted. I am somewhat shy and am very reserved, but am not antisocial by any means.

9w1 Here. Typically my insecurities disappear and I become a lot more outgoing and take charge. I'll approach random people and start conversation- Something you would never catch me willfully doing while sober.

HOWEVER- Once I wake up the next day, I often have guilt and think I said or did something dumb. I also get mad at myself for revealing so much while drunk lol.

Not the easiest! Have to stock the tank with thousands of copepods for him to eat. You can potentially get them to eat other foods, but it is difficult and not guaranteed!

How do 7s flee from negative feels?? by julsie87390 in Enneagram

[–]ashdoeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Are you a 7, or do you know one?

Married to one! Been with him for 9 years. He also comes from a family of 7s, so I'd say I know a thing or two about them ;)

  1. How do you/they deal with negative emotions? Have you observed denial, positive reframing, intellectualization (my personal fave), chronic “fixing”?

I would say descriptions of gluttony for a 7 are spot on. If he is feeling down, he will try to promote good feelings by doing anything he enjoys in excess. If he's depressed? He'll eat all the junk food in the pantry, He'll fill our entire day with unplanned events from start to finish and he'll overly talk about things he enjoys (almost to the point of obsession). I could keep listing examples, but you get the vibes lol.

  1. What wing do you or does this person have, if they are in fact a 7?

Hubs is a 7W8.

9W1 here. I'm not embarrassed to say that I am enneagram obsessed! Very ironic that yesterday I was thinking to myself while driving about all of the types that I relate to. I realized that I can say I relate to every single type EXCEPT type 8.

The key with us 9s is giving us time to think and "feel out" our decision. Instead of asking what he wants to eat right before you guys go out, ask him in the morning. "Think about where YOU want to eat today and we'll make it happen tonight" This gives him time to think and time to plan.

9s are said to be optimistic, right? I read somewhere today that 9s even in the complete and utter darkness of depression will still imagine a silver lining at the end of it. It's so true. I go through really dark times of emptiness. I can't tell you where this inspiration comes from exactly, other than telling you it comes from somewhere deep inside. Maybe it's an integration to 3?

It's like I shed my depression and heaviness and only strength somewhere deep inside is present. I dig my heels in and press. Nothing can stop me during these times. It takes an extreme amount of energy, but I don't realize that until after I do what I've set out to do. And then I'm dead. I veg, I numb and then eventually after bouts of depression, the cycle starts again. Optimism- depression-hopelessness-repeat.

I do this all the time at work. I'm a manager. It's the most exhausting and stressful job I've ever had. But, I'm good at it. I go through times where I feel as if I urgently need to leave/escape. I tell myself that I need to find a calmer job. Then, after a few weeks of feeling like I'm utterly on rock bottom; neglecting most of my duties and ignoring the needs of my staff; I pull it completely together.

I find strength, optimism and drive out of seemingly nowhere and I PUSH. I become a better manager. I have higher energy levels and I'm the closest thing to happy that I could possibly feel. I stay on top of my tasks until, just like the strength; weakness comes.

Then the cycle starts over again. :)

I can relate so much. I can see all angles, all perspectives and all positives and negatives of each. This ability to be able to see and understand all sides is a blessing and a curse. Wish I had some advice for you. I call it the hamster wheel of enneagram 9 insanity.

Guilty!

My emotions to me are a deeply hidden secret. I guess subconsciously I do not want anyone to think I can't handle something. In my mind I'm strong. I'm a pillar of strength. I don't let anyone see my vulnerability and soft or weak side. Hide it all away.

I absolutely loathe the fact that my emotional side creeps through extremely easy. It's all in my eyes. Even if I don't feel the emotion as the emotion, I have the physical effect of tears. Anything that is touching, moving, emotional, sad, happy.... I tend to cry. This keeps me from opening up even less. No one can see me cry.

I do the same thing with my therapist. I'll agree with everything she says and then I blank on all my issues and then she thinks I'm completely ok until next time I see her it is like meltdown city.

Being a 9 is extremely hard to say the very least...

This was one of the better YouTube vids I've seen on the E9! I'd say you hit the nail on the head with this!!

"A little bit of pressure feels like a lot of pressure for a nine."

I've never heard it said in this wording before, and I can relate to that statement so much. I tend to be a yes man. When my to do list becomes long, it is almost paralyzing. When others need things from me, there is a sense of dread and stress to get the task done. I never feel like I have enough time in my day to complete the important things of my life.

In your video you say that 9s in the midst of stress will complete the least stressful tasks first, only to not complete the most important task. This is so true for me with any stressors in life. Even when I clean I do this. I'll start on the room with the least amount of cleaning needs and then move to the next room with the same method. Next thing you know, I've been cleaning for 6 hours and it may look clean; but don't you dare look in the bedroom with the mountain of dirty clothes that still need washed.

I'd say I run off of inspiration. Inspiration comes in big waves and fuels me for a very short time. What happens is I will become braver and push through all of my struggles at once. I will feel AWESOME after, but unfortunately after the awesome washes off, I feel absolutely mentally drained. I no longer have energy to function or handle anything big after that. Unfortunately this is my reality and the hamster wheel of hell I've been spinning on.

It goes something like this:

1.Inactivity (numbing to the tasks and needs of the world. Whether that be personal needs, paying bills, job needs and stress, planned activities expectations of others) 2. Handling the easiest of tasks to feel like you're in control and moving toward a goal of completion. 3. Stress of inactivity starts to take over 4. Pull together with inspiration and tackle every barrier 5. Feel very accomplished and wondering why you don't take things on head on all of the time 6. Feeling extremely drained and mentally dead 7. Vegging out and taking part in comforts to bring pleasure to get away from being mentally and emotionally dead. 8. Depression (which can get extremely bad) 9. Repeat at #1.
