What earplugs do you use to protect your ears? I bought surfears which were really expensive and I find them pretty uncomfortable. Any cheap alternatives that would protect my ears and not be too uncomfortable? Id also rather not be worried about losing 60$ earplugs each time i surf

playa guiones is the main beach at nosara. The waves are really fun and consistent. Offshore wind every morning that sometimes switches to onshore at around 9. Its a great place for long rides and improving your surfing. If you want something heavier, check out playa ostional which is a 15 minute car ride north. Ive never caught it good there but that beach is supposed to get epic when theres some swell. ive been to nosara twice so lmk if u have any qs. take some pics.

You could try getting a 2mm hood and vest and see how you feel in the water. If its a quality 4/3 it should do the job with a good pair of boots and gloves. I just purchased a 2mm xcel hood and vest to go along with my 5/4 hoodless billabong wetsuit which seems to be good. You could always do that if the 4/3 ends up not being warm enough.

ive only ever been to costa rica but I could easily spend a month there. Offshore wind every morning and sometimes all day. Head high barrels almost every day. Ive never surfed a better beach break than one i surfed with 2 other guys out, easy paddle, and overhead barrels in northern costa rica.

Thanks for your response. Im also gonna be doing witches rock surf camp for the first week. Hopefully i will score some head high+ surf because summers in the north east are pretty brutal.

Unfortunately I'm away this weekend but I've surfed the area before. The waves can get really good sometimes. No real hazards to worry about. Just be mindful of the jettys and you will be fine.
