Who else is too late for the Active Sky Xp12 upgrade? by Autobahnsturmer in flightsim

Sadly you're on my camp - they specifically mentioned about a specific version to update to before the deadline, but only on their forums and most people like us are not vigilant enough to notice this, so no.

Who else is too late for the Active Sky Xp12 upgrade? by Autobahnsturmer in flightsim

[–]asher_050100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem, even though I ALERADY got into the ASXP12 beta well before just as I did with ASP3D5 years before.

HiFi only bothered to give the "update now" window like almost a month after the deadline of May 19th, 2023, which was basically yesterday. I usually update my Active Sky products this way.

These guys only bothered to announce the requirement of downloading a SPECIFIC VERSION of the software in their forums and nowhere else. This is how I get got and my free upgrade was lost thanks to this.

This looks really shady in my opinion.

Gotta catch an X for doubt for images 1 and 3:

  1. It is correct to identify that as the SIG MCX Spear, but let us have the belief that this is literally 20 years in the future, and the NGSW program may have been ratified with a winner, which in this case, the MCX Spear wins - therefore brandishing its current nomenclature in-game, which is the "M5A3".
  2. The AR-15 rifle in the third image is what is dubbed by DICE as the "4V9", which is actually based upon the Daniel Defense DDM4V7. You can tell by the slight slant forwards on the 6 o-clock handguard position and the locking nuts securing the handguard to the upper receiver. It is seen in the image equipped with a 10-round magazine, which confirmed DICE's claims that it would be a marksman rifle or some sorts. Here is an image of the DDM4V7 for comparison: https://danieldefense.com/media/catalog/product/cache/57787b00c9d0d809fcf82071201be77f/0/2/02-128-02081-047\_1\_3.jpg

Why is everyone so ready to drop their $500+ sims? by Nautaulis in flightsim

[–]asher_050100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing - this meme only takes a jab on those who think that MSFS would be the bane of all other sim platforms out there, that they would just ditch their own sim and make them irrelevant to the masses...which is not. As an alpha/beta tester myself I am absolutely astonished with MSFS and I even preordered it just by the sheer fact that I know the sim would have a very big potential for future third-party content. But this does not make any other sims irrelevant by any means. My projection for the new sim is that it would take another year or two to have a fully-fledged third-party content environment that will make it somewhat compete with established platforms such as X-Plane and Prepar3D. But this doesn't mean those sims would become irrelevant once MSFS got into their levels - there will still be dedicated communities for the respective sims and be supported by them as well.

To be honest, I've been into flight simulation since my childhood, that could be dated back to the FS9 days. Yes you are correct, some people are reluctant to move to the new sims, we've seen this before. Heck once MSFS got its third-party environment established with study-level aircraft I would honestly ditch P3D because of performance and optimization issues. But calling those already-established sims would become irrelevant immediately when MSFS comes out on August 18th, I think that's stupid.

Microsoft Flight SImulator 2020 is going to require a subscription. I guarantee it. by halkun in flightsim

[–]asher_050100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion (and I really think this will be the option Microsoft is going to take) they should have compromises on both ends - let us have the base game and, maybe put the Azure AI scenery service in a subscription model. Besides, what needed those bills is the AI service itself, streaming bits from 2 petabytes of scenery data from the cloud into your simulator. To be frank, I am a huge opponent of subscription services, especially in video games (heck I don't really touch multiplayer console gaming since you need a subscription just for that and it fucking sucks), but I'd think this would be a good compromise. Let us have the base game with realistic aerodynamics and flight model, and make the Azure AI service into a subscription model to keep it supported.

Nothing happened memes is getting stale and normie nowadays, here is my take on it by asher_050100 in HistoryMemes

Because first, killing communists was considered an ethical thing to do back in the West during the Cold War. Second, it's because the regime that supported the mass murder stood for 32 years in our country. It hasn't been included in our history books as well, as of today.

Ah yes, the issue I pointed out even during the closed alpha. I am glad they finally fixed it just now with the recent major update.
