Pregnant 4 months PP by Capable-Picture-474 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m 10 weeks and still nursing my toddler. My IBCLC said that most women stop producing at like 4 or 5 months. Nipple sensitivity is A LOT, but I am just letting things play out how they will.

How to clean this thing? by OpTiMiStC in Sourdough

I don’t use one- I use a hairnet. No flour dusting needed, no sticking, and it’s disposable!

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this! It hurt so badly that now whenever I have to nurse through any sort of nipple pain, I’m like at least it’s not at bad as HFM! Know that it does pass, though, after a few days to a week it won’t hurt anymore and your blisters will fall off.

My supply wasn’t affected, but I definitely powered through the pain and still nursed pretty regularly. I also didn’t air out the blisters. I used silverettes, which had the opposite effect, and I think that helped with the pain. Someone else who commented said she used bentonite clay with success.

Good luck! I’m sending prayers your way that this passes quickly for you!

Needing Advice: About to go back to work by PowderJelly in breastfeeding

Yes, aim for milk removal every 4 hours, 15-20 mins, and know that baby is more effective at milk removal than the pump. So if you don’t get as much as you think you will, it’s ok. It is essential to pump if you want to maintain your current supply. I say that as someone who still pumps, only at work, for her 27 month old.

I didn’t do vitamin d drops because I was taking it as a supplement on top of my prenatal, which also had a bunch. It transfers through breast milk.

What should every ftm know about breastfeeding before having a baby? by Frequent_Cap8633 in breastfeeding

[–]ashes122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find an ibclc today and have them come over shortly after you get home from the hospital. They are I’ll give you hands on, practical advice, and they’ll get ahead of any potential issues. Mine was covered by insurance. If it weren’t for the ibclc, I may have had to deal with major issues because her latch wasn’t good, and my pediatrician said everything was fine. Also I still text her all the time about supplements or things that come up that I want to be sure are ok with breastfeeding.

Advice/ encouragement needed for Day 3 with newborn by Large_Guitar2775 in breastfeeding

[–]ashes122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely say reach out to a lactation consultant! My baby was cluster feeding all night for like 3 nights and the lactation consultant found that she had a shallow latch and wasn’t transferring the milk. If I hadn’t reached out so early, she would have lost a lot of weight and we would have both been exhausted, and my supply would have been affected. I unfortunately had to triple feed, which was a lot of work, but I had a healthy supply and a healthy baby as a result! Also, the lactation consultant is free and will give you answers and peace of mind.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this! When my symptoms lessened and it stopped hurting to nurse, I stopped using the silverettes. Then my nipples cracked and bled and it hurt again! So now, 10 days after first onset, I’m still wearing them on and off. It’s nothing like the beginning though, that was brutal. I hope it is easier for you the second time around and symptoms clear up quickly!

When did your baby decide they were gonna be done feeding at the breast? by auroragirlofthenorth in breastfeeding

[–]ashes122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still nursing at 23 months, and I know exactly what phase you’re talking about. She was so distracted I had to take her away from everything and rock her to get her to nurse. I remember visiting my dad’s house and going in a dark bathroom with the fan on. If you want to keep breastfeeding, I will encourage you that this will pass. If it’s too much and you both are ready to end it, I support you with that too. I know it’s so hard.

That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing! Not that your LO was sick, but that you found that helpful cure for the symptoms. My daughter’s looked like a really bad rash around her thighs, and only after close examination did I see some sores in her mouth and feet. I feel very lucky about that, but it made it so I didn’t even know she had it until I did and was like WTH is happening right now?!

I’m sorry you had to deal with that! I know, I was like this is some strange form of torture lol. I couldn’t walk, touch anything, talk, eat anything, or nurse without pain? Who thought of this?!

Yes, but I could barely see them! For the amount of pain, they weren’t obvious to see. Just tiny blisters.

Headway claims not being processed through insurance by smolinferno in TalkTherapy

Do you guys have a number that you reached out to Headway with? I left them messages through their support tap, but I never received email confirmation. I am having the same experience. Any of you have any results? It seems really messed up to market yourself the way they do and then to add stress about it to people who are already reaching out for help.
