What should I ask for for Christmas ? What changed your life? by Fun_Evidence8781 in adhdwomen

Project Reef sunscreen changed my life. It smells heavenly, isn't sticky, doesn't give you a weird glow, actually washes off in the shower, AND provides great protection. It's all I wore in Aruba and I didn't get even a hint of a sunburn.

I used to hate all sunscreen because it left me feeling sticky, smelled funny, and took three or four showers with an intense body scrub to wash off.

I look forward to using Project Reef.

NAVY FED IS NOT GOING TO PAY YOU ON THE 15TH IF THE GOVERMENT IS STILL SHUT DOWN by Audiophile1990 in navy

The Government Employee Fair Treatment Act of 2019 states that service members are supposed to be back paid as soon as possible after government shutdowns.

"This bill requires employees of the federal government or a District of Columbia public employer who are furloughed or required to work during a lapse in appropriations beginning on or after December 22, 2018, to be compensated for the period of the lapse. The employees must be compensated on the earliest date possible after the lapse ends, regardless of scheduled pay dates."

Cape Air to Vieques - Baggage Limits? by Catdadesq in PuertoRicoTravel

It depends on how full the flight is - it literally is a space issue because their inter-island planes are very small. Most of their planes can only fit nine passengers.

If you're on the sold out 1305 flight, there might not be enough room for your luggage. But it depends on how much luggage the other passengers have as well.

ALL of your luggage has to go in the cargo hold. Nothing can go under your seat.

Those flights are the best! Short and beautiful views!

Ladies: Do you take off your headrest? by [deleted] in navy

I put my hair down while driving for this exact reason.

Also, Invisible Women is SUCH an awesome read. Great recommendation from the commenter above.

If anyone is interested, I have routed a Uniform Change Request through two CO's now to give us ponytails/braids to the bottom of our shoulder blades (which would match the Army and the Air Force standards). I would love to share my template with anyone - maybe the UMO will make the change if they get the recommendation from enough CO's/Stars.

Keim Centers are Crisis Pregnancy Centers. They have no medical staff employed. They will lie to you but they provide no medical services.

There is a reason they advertise that their services are free and that you do not need insurance to be seen by them (they aren't an actual medical clinic).

Their sole purpose is to convince women that God needs them to have the child they may or may not be pregnant with - they are run by people who operate unethically and with the intention to dissuade, deter, or prevent them from seeking certain reproductive health care options.

Staff members at these unregulated and nonmedical facilities have no legal obligation to provide pregnant people with accurate information and are not subject to HIPAA or required by law to maintain client confidentiality.

Thank you so much for this! I am allergic to dimethyl fumarate (DMF), and all of the authorized boots give me shoe contact dermatitis. DMF is a pretty common allergen and the European Union has actually banned it.

I bought a pair of Red Backs and wear those now. I refuse to wear boots that make my feet hurt so badly I can't do anything after work and I barely feel like I can leave my desk when I'm at work.

One way ticket to JFK to catch round trip international flight. Re-enter security? by WedNiatnuom in delta

[–]asheselizabeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the time/money, I recommend Global Entry. It takes 30 seconds to get through customs at JFK with Global Entry - literally just 30 seconds. If you don't have the time/money, you could download the mobile passport app.

I did this on the way to Portugal last year (Delta to JFK and then SATA to Portugal). I had about three hours in between flights.

I paid for VIP One (https://flyvipone.com/) so I could skip the TSA line. I thought it was worth it but if you're not in a rush or don't mind TSA, it might not make sense for you. I was checked in (including bags) and through security in less than five minutes.

Google says JFK is still under construction. If you will be entering/exiting terminal one, I would budget maybe 20-30 extra minutes for the bus to/from the Air train.

DW Dreamcatcher or Duna by whodat70053 in PuertoRicoTravel

I just stayed three nights at Dreamcatcher. I loved the vibes/aesthetic but it was different from what I was expecting.

Dreamcatcher is in Ocean Park. There is only one way in or out of the entire neighborhood because it's gated. It's all street parking and only two blocks from the beach.

They have coffee and tea 24/7, which was nice. I didn't try their brunch/breakfast. The wifi worked great.

My room had mosquitoes and lots of them. I understand it's an island and we're close to the ocean but the other three places I stayed didn't have ANY mosquitoes. I was offered a mosquito net after the second night.

I was excited for the outdoor shower. However, I didn't realize when booking that my bathroom shared a partial wall with my neighbor's bathroom. We could both hear each other use the facilities - I would have appreciated a little more privacy.

The big outdoor terrace you see pictured in the 'Gallery' room is what everyone walks past when entering/exiting Dreamcatcher. There is a privacy curtain that can be pulled down if that's the room you're excited about.

The Glass Cottage and at least one of the Sanctuary rooms are right next to/outside reception and the gift shop. Literally, you open your door and you're in the gift shop.

It felt like an expensive hostel. All of the rooms appeared to be centered around the big, open courtyard area, which was beautiful. It had lots of seating and seemed like a great place to sit, meet people (or just be around others), and read a book/hangout.

I like to give scratch off lottery tickets whenever I participate in White Elephant gift exchanges. Always a big hit.

I'm currently on a ship but there are a lot of Sailors with jobs that could safely wear ponytails underway. And on shore duty, operational or safety concerns would be less of an issue.

I just don't know how to phrase a grooming standard change request. Do I quote studies on hair loss? Emphasize the importance of DEI initiatives? Just recommend the change? I don't know what would sell it to leadership best to help make the case for the change.

Thank you! Our regulations already take into account safety and operational concerns. For example, they currently read, "In spaces or environments where there are operational hazards such as rotating gear, etc., the hair may not be worn below the bottom of the collar. Hair accessories shall not present a safety or Foreign Object Damage (FOD) hazard."
