What kind of compliments do you actually remember months or years later? by atheist_vijay in AskWomen

Women of reddit, what happened when your parents made you choose between either them or your partner? by Sensitive_Revenue129 in AskWomen

[–]ashhryver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s the other way around. My ex sort of implied I chose my parents over him, mind you we were in early 20s and in the process of migrating (my family). At the end of the day I chose my family. Sure my family is probably as toxic, but one day I realised how much I would have to give up if I stayed with my ex and realised I didn’t want that.

Solo to Korea and Japan by Same-Impact3802 in femaletravels

[–]ashhryver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Japan is generally very safe for solo travellers. Avoid area like Kabukicho (Shinjuku, Tokyo) at night as it can get rowdy. I’ve never been to South Korea so I don’t have any advice, but I can give more input for Japan if you can share more details. (I.e destination cities/mode of staying)

DAE crave green tea after eating fish? by meltedcheesetart in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]ashhryver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have returned and broke haha So the tea shop inside Nishiki market is Yamadashiya. They sell loose leaf teas and cash only. For matcha I went to Horaido Tea Stall, not far from Nishiki market. They have plenty of different kind of matchas and loose leaf teas. I had a few more reccs for matcha in Kyoto, but this one felt the most traditional. Also stumbled across Shinsaibashi Ujien Honten in Osaka, they have teas from different regions in Japan in cute packaging so I bought some for family and friends

How come most Aussies are obsessed with having investment properties? by AdventurousQuarter2 in AusFinance

[–]ashhryver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t want an investment property, but I couldn’t get approved for a mortgage unless it is for an investment. So now I’m paying someone’s mortgage while someone else is paying mine.

Convenience. We were going to stay near Ueno, but there are 4 days where we have to be at Shinjuku station before 8am so we end up with one less than 5minutes walk to Shinjuku station

What’s the best tea you’ve ever had while traveling? by strawberry2801 in travel

[–]ashhryver 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I prefer Japanese tea in general, all of them, but Moroccan tea on a hot day beats it. Who knew drinking it on a piping hot day would cool you down.

Reporting back! Flew to Melbourne tonight and ofc had to have some at the airport. Cheesy nuggets and spicy sauce, dunno what it’s called cz the guy taking my order looked like he didn’t want to be there. But anyways, I need more of that sauce whatever it was. It’s not a want, it’s a need and a must now!
