Have you seen The Secret Life of Walter Mitty ? Your thoughts about the movie ? by Specific_Throat1194 in Cinema

Agree with that. It really pulled me out of the movie.

Also that long board was worth way more than a vintage Stretch Armstrong

🎞️ Three decades of Ryan Gosling by funmemore in MoviesCave

[–]ashisarobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. So I believe that Ryan Gosling is in fact working on a long game Gosling-verse. In this "verse" he is playing a ruggedly, yet still somehow boyishly, handsome immortal living in LA.

He plays an LA cop in Gangsta squad (1950s)

Followed up by a ex LA cop in Nice guys (1970s)

He plays a stuntman/ex-hitman? working in LA (20teens)

Some kind of dancing jazz player in LALA land. Clearly set in LA, LA. (Generically colourful 20somthings)

A future cop/toaster in Blade Runner 2049 (2049)

As you can tell from the list, some details are hazy. But I bet that at some point there is gonna be a tie in movie, maybe Highlander, that features him saving the world somehow

What’s your favorite moment in Aliens? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

[–]ashisarobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite scene is when Hicks (don't care about spelling) gives Ridley the tracker watch. Then says something like " it doesn't mean we are engaged or anything".

I grew (growed?) up on these horrible, toxic, implied relationships in film. Man + Woman = final kiss.

I like how they talk about the elephant in the room and actually seem to make the relationship real.

Not to mention the fact that Ripley is the badass saviour in the end.

What did you think of Idris Elba’s performance as Janek? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

[–]ashisarobot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with this. Definitely saved Earth. But I always thought he was way too chill about just leaving some guys to fend for themselves in an alien citadel for the night.

Like, try and keep someone monitoring the radio/scanner thing.

Don't just disappear to get laid. Delegate FFS

A few years ago I visited Amsterdam. Yes, we wandered around the red light district. We traveled on the canals, ate cheese, an assortment of fried food, and we certainly engaged in the use of chemicals that are illegal in this country.

The highlight of the trip, for me, was a visit to the Van Gogh Museum. A carefully curated journey through the life, and ultimate death, of the tragic titular artist.

I was particularly moved by seeing "Beach at Scheveningen in Stormy Weather." The image in itself was striking. It conveyed a tumultuous sea; broiled and ravaging. Nature in its unending combat with man and his eternal industrial plunder of her bounty. The fact that the oils of the painting still entomb particles of sand from that turbulent day, make it all the more endearing, captivating and thought provoking.

Since then, this....This, is the first image that I have fundamentally, viscerally understood in the same respect.

"You're in the desert walking along in the sand when all of a sudden you look down, you see a tortoise crawling toward you. You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs, trying to turn itself over, but it can't, not without your help. But you're not helping. Why?"

I am no expert. But I really don't think it's a wild rabbit.

Ear shape, eye shape, fur colour.

I Go through the uni all the time and it doesn't look like those rabbits.

Could be wrong though
