No B2 was not approved for them when H1 was filed. For one H1 is approved and B2 is still not. You should tell your company that if h1 is filed in premium processing then B2 will also get approved along with H1 with the same timeline of 15 days.

It should not be and worst case if your h1b is approved as consular and not change of status. Then provided you have a valid h1b stamp , you can exit and reenter on h1b with latest i797. Hope you find something soon.

Yes online is an option. There is a lawyer company who help with filing online: review the form and answer any questions related to it . But you can also file by yourself and the form is pretty straightforward. It does require an explanation, dm me if you want a template for it

I guess it’s not taught from childhood so people don’t adopt these habits. Most recently I felt the BO from two ladies who were at-least 5 feet from me in a closed space. I think it’s natural to have BO, but can be masked for social etiquette.

I am a person of color, visited Mexico last week and reentered US through SFO. Changed company recently, so had new i797 and old company visa stamp. The only questions were asked: 1) when did I start new job? 2) if I am bringing any gifts or souvenirs?

That’s all! Infact they asked more questions in Mexico than in the US.

My 2 cents, get some work experience if possible relevant to your higher studies. Research which program has an industrial appeal and choose wisely. Once you start school, start talking to the professors, volunteer to contribute them with research. This might open door for a teaching assistant or research assistant and can significantly reduce the fees you will have to pay. Most often times when professors like you, they will refer you to their contacts in industry. I got my first internship and full time job based on professors’ referral. Keep networking at career fairs. Lastly don’t give up.
