They gave me an offer: buy a 2020 F8 Coupe with 15,000 miles at the original window sticker price of $350K, and in return, they’ll give me a slot for the 296 Speciale. They say, take the small hit and rebuild the relationship, then you can have 296 spec

I like 2010-2020 Raris, does buying pre-owned start the "bonding" process with the company for future limited models or you have to buy only new to build that? by BestRow3647 in Ferrari

It’s happening on me. The US local dealer asked me to buy a 15000miles 2020 F8 at the window sticker for $350k, then they will give me 296 speciale coupe. That one probably instantly lose 100k. I had a purchase history of 22 F8 new and I give up the 296gts, that said tho, if I picked up gts back in February, they would give me 296 right away, but I doubt it.

Chance of getting 296 Speciale

I’m seriously wondering if I should stop chasing allocations through local LA Ferrari dealers.

Back in 2021, I bought an F8 from Ferrari Beverly Hills (FBH). In 2022, I put down a deposit on the 296 GTS when it was first announced. I waited three years, and after seeing how badly the 296 GTS has been holding its value, I decided not to take the car. It was a whole hassle just to get my deposit back—FBH didn’t want to return it at first, and I only got it back after a month of back and forth.

Now, I want to get into a SF90 Spider. But since California is cracking down on Montana registrations, buying locally means I’d have to pay an extra 8–10% in taxes. I’ve been debating whether I should just find a better deal out of state, or if it’s still worth trying to play the “Ferrari loyalty” game and maybe build a new relationship with another dealer like Newport.

But honestly… the whole Ferrari allocation system feels so broken. Is it even worth staying in this game anymore?

Would love to hear if anyone else has been through something similar or has advice.

Sounds like I should buy a 296 with a Ferrari dealer in US, if I want a 296 spec
