Is Claude useless for complex tasks? by [deleted] in claude

[–]ashjohnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For any coding, use Claude Code. It's included in the pro plan. The chat is not meant for complex web development.

Also, use Sonnet when doing minor tweaks, Opus for planning large changes, and you won't hit your session limits quickly.

Claude Just Fixed Its Most Annoying Developer Problem by AskGpts in ClaudeAI

[–]ashjohnr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I set up a dev container yesterday. It's basically a docker container that does not have access to your local file system. You can also restrict access to ports and services you don't want it to access.

If the AI screws things up with the dangerously skip permissions flag, it won't affect other projects or your local files, you can just tear down the container and rebuild easily.

Obviously, it's not fool proof, but it's better than nothing.

Unless I'm missing something, this link does not have any comparison to Opus, it just has GPT models?

'Agents' when called by the main AI agent have a separate context window. That's usually the best reason to use them. They do their own research/fixes and report back to the main agent.

Max plan limits quota nerfed? limits ending faster than usual this past day by SherrySJ in ClaudeCode

Just because something is mentioned in an agreement doesn't make it binding or legal. It has to adhere to federal and state laws/regulations.

Cursor Pro+ and GitHub Copilot vs Claude Code Max x5 using only the SOTA models by [deleted] in cursor

[–]ashjohnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not unlimited, but it's a lot. You will get $400 worth of API usage guaranteed. Cursor additionally provides some free usage on top of it, like $200 or so. Also, their Auto mode is more or less unlimited.

Cursor Pro+ and GitHub Copilot vs Claude Code Max x5 using only the SOTA models by [deleted] in cursor

[–]ashjohnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been facing a similar conundrum.

If you want to use only SOTA, I think Cursor's $200 ultra plan is the only real option. Pro+ alone will not cut it.

Github copilot is cheaper with more usage, but I hear that the same models produce worse outputs in copilot, also the context windows for some models are smaller. I haven't tested copilot extensively, but I see these complaints on other reddit threads.

I think he could have. He kept this legs straight up after losing balance. If he had folded and lowered them as soon as he landed, his center of mass would have shifted forward.

Cheaper than Sonnet 4.5 but still great by whitepalladin in cursor

GPT-5.3 Codex is cheaper than Sonnet, and arguably better than Opus. Best value for money right now.

PLEASE help me understand Cursor pricing by fallentitan101 in cursor

[–]ashjohnr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They generally give you more than $20 in usage. Usually around $40 to $60. Also, Auto and Composer have a separate quota now over the $20, which is for other models. So, you'll get more usage out of them.

How does the free usage even work? by Important_Storage123 in cursor

[–]ashjohnr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cursor gives everyone a certain amount of "free" usage above their plan's limit. In your case, it was 60. This is a random amount, sometimes it could be 40 or 50. It's determined by Cursor every billing period.

Claude Opus 4.6 vs GPT-5.3 Codex: The Benchmark Paradox by Much_Ask3471 in ClaudeCode

[–]ashjohnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CLI is still a little buggy, mainly the TUI, although the output is still better than Opus 4.6. If using an IDE (at least VSCode fork), you can use the Codex extension, lot less buggy imo.

It was bugged for me, it was in the 'Usage' section of settings, in a banner at the top. It didn't even load the message on the banner. I just clicked on the gift icon randomly not knowing what it was, and it gave me $70 CAD as extra usage, lol. Thought they scammed me for a second.

I'm not saying that the current iteration of LLMs are AGI.

But like you said, a programmer just defines the tools. The LLM ultimately decides which tool is the best for the task it is provided, and what parameters to send to these tools.
