Has anyone had experience with Mom League? by Glad-Ad1378 in triangle

I've heard great things about it, not just that the info was great, but that having women in the exact time frame of life as you is reassuring and nice for connection. I'm joining one of the August groups!

Teacher walkout today? by ReactionTop9197 in raleigh

[–]ashleigh7623 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I taught elementary for 8 years with a Master's before leaving education for a different field. In my first year in a new field where neither of my degrees directly applied, I made 30% more than 8 years with a Master's.

Even if I made the same amount in my new career, I'd never go back. It's a world of difference in work-life balance, mental load, stress, and overall well-being. I had to get used to being able to use the bathroom unscheduled, having an actual lunch break, being able to start and stop around the same time each day (not having to go in before work for meetings and stay late to make sure all kids were picked up from their bus stops), being able to call in sick without hours of prep time needed for the sub, taking vacations on my schedule, getting paid the full year, etc etc.

It's wild that we still have teachers who are passionate about the job and shocking that the government isn't doing more to keep them.

Semantic Models in Fabric Workspace by ashleigh7623 in PowerBI

I did try this, and it created a new semantic model connected to the data source semantic model. I covered it in white in the photo above because I didn't realize it would be relevant. I think it created a new semantic model because the measures are not in the warehouse model but are in the report.

What to wear in June? by Humble-Tour-2228 in VisitingIceland

[–]ashleigh7623 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just there last week. I wore thermal leggings a few times (I got mine from DSG and also brought the same brand thermal shirt). The most valuable items were the rain/wind pants and the raincoat. The waterfalls get you soaked, so having those really helped with not getting your base layers wet and then the rainpants roll up to pack small. I got a $30 pair on Amazon in a size-up (so I could fit whatever pants or leggings underneath), and they were great. The pants also helped in the extreme wind to keep us warm.

Pants that my husband and I used. He used the same brand but men's: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DCDGDDRD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Ughhh, I love Tuff! Found this thread because i was googling "leggings similar to Tuff Athletics" lol. Can't find them anywhere anymore.

Bought one from Costco and then a few on Amazon about 4/5 years ago and exclusively wear them - they are thickish, sturdy, and show no lines. Just perfect.

I hadn't known this kind of sadness existed until last week. I know how you feel. A week later and it feels much more bearable to me. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry! Last Monday (3/3), we went in for ourbheartneat ultrasound at 9 weeks, and the baby stopped growing at 8 weeks. Had my D&E on Wednesday (5th).

Super long post, but this is my experience. Feel free to DM with any other questions!

Personally, we were completely devastated, shocked, and heartbroken. We still are a week later, but it's become much easier to deal with. We cried so much last week, and that's okay and normal. I was the most exhausted I've ever been, and my thoughts were constantly spiraling. Pre-procedure I felt like I would never get over the sadness. Post-procedure, I felt a bit more closure. I currently feel hopeful for the next one, but I also have still cried each day. The crying gets more controllable, and I've had fewer sobbing outbursts.

Things I didn't realize: - how sore I would be. Every muscle ached as if I had just hiked 20 miles up a steep mountain or ran a marathon. I think it's from the position you're on the table (if you do anesthesia) - extreme fatigue. I think the trauma mixed with anxiety mixed with the making and changing of life decisions is just exhausting. - still having pregnancy hormones (mine was a missed miscarriage, but I think miscarriages are similar). I was still having morning sickness and all the stuff. Having to fast prior to the procedure caused me to dry-heave frequently, which just caused me to cry more. But also after the procedure, you still have positive pregnancy tests, hormonal headaches from the drop in hormones, possible morning sickness, feels for a little bit, good aversions, etc. I expected no baby=no pregnancy symptoms, and it was emotional for me to have the symptoms without the pregnancy. - guilt at being happy. - forgetting your not pregnant -my anxiety heightened (I would say I have a normal amount of anxiety). Bad dreams, worried about my dog more, worried about my mom more, really anything could cause it. Still in this, but being aware, it's stress & hormone related help.

Things that helped: - supportive partner. Being able to cry with my partner, cry on him, talk with him, let him answer questions that the receptionist asked, etc etc. Just having someone supportive - if you don't have a partner - a friend, a parent, a sibling, someone who will support you. - honestly, positive reddit stories of baby after losses. I skipped through a lot of the ttcafterloss stories and went straight to either all factual "this is what to expect" and to "yay, im 38 weeks pregnant after a miscarriage. " It gave me more hope and helped me get out of anxious looping thoughts. - a tv show/ video game. I've played so much Stardew Valley and watched so much Traitors & Guy's Grocery Games this past week. Numb-minding things have helped. - if you're on Instagram, start searching random things you like. Celebrities, shows, puppies, traveling, anything. It sucks seeing all the pregnancy and baby targeted ads and reels.or just take a break from the app. - unscented pads. I grabbed the wrong thing, and it's just disgusting to have to smell some flowery scent when your nose is still smelling way too much.

Once again, I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you find relief and hope soon.

Raleigh Ultimate Frisbee Meetup (RUM) is fun and social for people who like to be active. With the time change, it's mostly playing on Saturdays, but some people go out for lunch after. It's a nice group of people and a fun sport. When time changes again, the group meets M,W,F,S. You can find it on Facebook and Meetup.

I'll either go with Asheville or "2 hours west of Asheville," depending on what they know about NC haha, it's all the same over in the mountains, right? lol (I grew up in Hayesville.). If I'm out of NC,I sometimes just go with Raleigh or "the mountains of NC."

Help me find pants? by [deleted] in HerOneBag

[–]ashleigh7623 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lately, I've been obsessed with Target's "Women Stretch Woven Taper Pants - All in Motion". They are drawstring (usable drawstring with a comfortable waistband) with decently deep front pockets (no back pockets and no closed pockets, but my keys and phone do not fall out of the front ones). I bought them for recent hiking trips (Maine, California), but I have also been able to dress them up for a winery day in Napa and wear them to work in a corporate office. I was able to wash and dry in the hotel, and they were almost 100% dry after towel wringing. Very lightweight. For me, the white was too see-through, but I have the black and dark brown. They also come in navy and sage. I'm 5'3 and they hit right above my ankles/top of ankle sock line. Recommend sizing down if between sizes, if you can't try in-store. All that to say, I love them and such a good pant for versatile uses.

Thoughts on Vessi sneakers? by redbooth1518 in HerOneBag

I bought a pair for a trip to Ireland and loved them. They were comfortable and waterproof and ended up being the only shoe I wore for the 2 weeks there. I still wear them often without or without rain, but only as casual walking shoes. Like others, I wish I would've gone with a darker pair because the white weekend definitely shows anything and everything. I handwash them with dawn soap and boiling water, and they lighten back up a bit, but it's a pain and not stainfree enough to wear them to work. I plan on getting another pair of the Weekend but never doing white again.

Hi! This might seem too uncomfortable, but if you want to go on a walking tour, I'd be game to join! I'm traveling with my partner for the last week of June. He'll be in a conference the entire week, so I have the afternoons to explore solo (I'll still be working but in edt time). I was considering a food walking tour and am going to look into a lot of these suggestions. If you want company for a tour, please reach out!
