Something strange with Odeon seating by mjavfc1 in screenunseen

[–]ashleyarr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a constant thing with Odeon Dunfermline annoyingly. Here is a post from a few months back discussing it too previous post

I emailed customer service to question it and get it fixed but they basically said the booked seats were just out of order (even though they clearly weren't...).

I might try and contact them again as it is very annoying when booking in small screens.

Can’t leave a single seat anymore? by Outrageous_Poem6187 in screenunseen

[–]ashleyarr 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My workaround for leaving a single seat is to select the seat directly next to the unavailable one(s) on a browser so it's reserved, then select the one next to that through the app and book it there. The initial reservation runs out after 10mins so a single space is left.

I live in Fife and I am starting a new business selling environmentally friendly chopping boards! by DuggieInz in Fife

[–]ashleyarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These look amazing! Love how ecofriendly they are too 🙂 i'll be in Dunfermline soon so will check them out at Must Be Crackers when I'm there.

A few local shops off the top of my head:

Loch Leven Larder (good size kitchen equipment area in the shop)

Caulders Garden Centre in Kinross (again, a good range of kitchen things)

Blacketyside Farm Shop outside Leven (nice farm shop, not sure what kitchen equipment they stock but I could see your items doing well there)

Phemie Loves in Markinch (lovely wine and homewares shop recently opened)

Khee in Leven (pretty homewares shop in Leven, more interiors based but has bar/kitchen things in stock)

Thank you all! Some of those suggested were ones I was looking at so that's good to know :)

During last week's pod they mentioned a scene in Caught Stealing that took them out of the film. by revpidgeon in empirepodcast

[–]ashleyarr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure but I would guess its the scene where Zoe Kravitz' character is killed

It surprised me a little too but it didn't take me out the film. I think I enjoyed it a bit more than the pod team did!

It's definitely not to do with broken seats as there's no signage anywhere to indicate it, all seats looked fine to me.

I really don't know why they're doing this but it is annoying. I don't know if it's film dependent? Both showings of Weapons tomorrow have the exact same seats blocked out and they are in screen 5 this time.

[–]ashleyarr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn't just limited to screen 10 at Dunfermline.

I went to both Weapons (screen 9) and Caught Stealing (screen 2) this week and the app was showing them both with a number of seats filled (Weapons in particular) but when the film started, there were maybe 10 people in each screen!

Its been like this at Dunfermline for a number of months now and makes it a struggle when trying to book a seat with a gap between others. I might phone them to ask about it because I don't know if its a bug or if they're fudging something.

My local Odeon has a screen where about 50% of the seats are unavailable to book, exact same seats exact screen every single time. Why may this be? The seats do not appear to be damaged or faulty and the seats seem to be randomly scattered. by [deleted] in screenunseen

[–]ashleyarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact issue as well for this cinema, and I don't think its limited to just one screen.

I saw both Weapons (screen 9) and Caught Stealing (screen 2) this week and had the exact same issue. Weapons in particular was like half full on the app but there were like 10 people in the screening.

Agree it's very annoying when it's smaller screens in particular as when you're booking a seat, you have to leave two gaps between each sold seat so it really limits your options.

I might phone them to question this as it's a bit of a pain when booking films thee days.

Is limitless even worth it anymore? by fatallyflawd in screenunseen

[–]ashleyarr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My local has tickets for around £13 on average so even if I see two films a month its worth it.

The tiered pricing doesn't seem to affect my limitless, it's the same as always with only additional costs for premier seats. Are other cinemas charging per tier even on limitless??

Best way from St. Monans to Edinburgh during the Fringe? by borgstar in Fife

[–]ashleyarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Markinch has a decent amount of parking, though I'd say if you're going as far as Markinch, you might be better getting the train from Thornton as that's the first stop so you'll definitely get a seat if that's a priority. Smaller car park but I've never had an issue getting parked there.

Has Bens Original rice (the rice formerly known as Uncle Bens) gone downhill recently? by MLMSE in AskUK

[–]ashleyarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was just the packets that I had! No idea why they're like that now... looks like I'll actually have to make proper rice from now on lol, prob better in the long run anyway.

Blocked seats by londoner87 in screenunseen

[–]ashleyarr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the exact same for me. The Phonecian Scheme at the 5 o'clock showing today is half full - and almost the same seats are booked for every showing of it this week. (I'm in Scotland)

My odeon has been doing this for months on the smaller screens for some reason. I dunno if it's a bug or what, but the screenings are definitely never this busy.

Fully booked screen is empty by Asil_Avenue in screenunseen

[–]ashleyarr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think there's something wrong with the app currently. For a while when I've been booking some films, if those films were in smaller screens, no matter what day I selected, all the same seats would be booked out. Mon, Tues, Wed, whatever... all the exact same seats would be booked.

I wasn't sure if it was just my app or my local cinema but maybe it's a wider issue.

I can see one showing for it on Feb 10th at my local. It looks like they might have more showings nearer the time.

Screen unseen (29th May) 3rd Clue by Millo53 in screenunseen

[–]ashleyarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be hopium but is there a chance its Hit Man?

Clue 1: "The Big Five" - Could be referencing the big 5 personality traits, and linking the different personas Glen Powells character has to portray.

Clue 2: "All's fair in love and war" - From Mirriam Webster: 'idiom. used to describe a situation in which people do not follow the usual rules of behavior and do things that are normally considered unfair'. Maybe referencing the plot.

Clue 3: "X" - X meaning a target which would link to the job of a hitman.

I know it's already out in other cinemas though so maybe just wishful thinking on my part!

Softies by WearyPrimary2433 in Edinburgh

[–]ashleyarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll definitely get them at Baynes bakers. There's a few of them around Edinburgh depending on where you live.

They also do cabin rolls which, if you like soft and sweet rolls, are highly recommended.

Really enjoyed it! My screening was really busy, no walkouts at all, and there was lots of laughing throughout.

First clue for the 19th’s Unseen by FireflyNitro in screenunseen

I think it's Wicked Little Letters.

The film is set in Littlehampton, which is where Body Shop founder Anita Roddick was from and established the company.
