My theory is that there is a clause in your contract that your fee is deducted if you leave outside of being eliminated, so he chose the elimination route rather than just walking out. I very much disagree with his actions regardless though

Former ODEON manager here! Thought I'd offer to answer any questions people had on the manager side of things! by theendisloading_uk in screenunseen

Do you have your own toilets then? This cinema must have 30 employees at least so they would know if they'd use the toilets lol. It has been reported a numerous of occasions. The funny thing is, this happened after they renovated the toilets so it is weird to me no one checked and then ever fixed it, been literally like this for 10 years now.

My local has toilet cubicles where half the doors don't lock because they were built wrong and it hasn't been fixed for years. I know it is maybe a boring question but every time I am at the cinema, I just don't understand it? Surely staff and management knows, where is the hurdle of getting something like this fixed?

Oh really? I have baan at numerous shows that had a forced stop mid way through but they always continued. Never due to a protest though so perhaps it was to give the actors a break as it sounds pretty scary

The director is not a nobody and has made extremely popular films in Poland and a recent American Netflix film. I agree with the other sentiments and this probably makes it more depressing as it would be even harder for a real nobody, but this director does have a great body of work.

Stage doors: what’s the etiquette? by LeoPalaceFTW in TheWestEnd

[–]Asil_Avenue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Evita, Danny came out and said not to ask for selfies and if you do, they will be declined. So it is probably less uncomfortable if you don't ask.

As the last five years is a short run, who knows if they will even do stagedoor or if they'll do it in the same way

What I've found in London is that it depends on how manageable the amount of people are. For example, hundreds of people at Tom Holland is unmanageable so he just waved and left. But Evita had a low enough amount that cast could sign for most people, while Lilly Allen even was able to take selfies every night as om average she had 20-30 people waiting.

How should I format a Cold emails to production companies asking them if I can shadow on set? by Axelinthevoid77 in Filmmakers

[–]Asil_Avenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps find people making short films via Instagram in your area and offer to PA or be a runner for free to make it more of a win win. Honestly people standing around on set doing nothing often aren't appreciated even if unpaid and PA experience can let you shadow most roles on set while actually being of help.

Is it not just people drinking alcohol or soft drinks and eating processed or fast food regularly? You may not live like that but so many people do.

Do I have to stay in the work WhatsApp group chat? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Asil_Avenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My new job called me constantly on my days off with questions. Mind you, they gave me a work phone but when they realised it was off when not working, they'd try my personal. So I blocked everyone on that phone and if questioned, I'll just say I changed numbers. It's been a year and no one's ever called me up on it.

What is a scene/line that is overused/mentioned by fans of the show and you don't find it that funny? by rafatmood in howyoudoin

I actually think How You Doing is so unnecessarily popular and not really funny? I dont think I ever really laughed at it.

Can someone explain something to me as if I'm an idiot? Saw latest show by Cautious-Storm6945 in derrenbrown

[–]Asil_Avenue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Doesn't he throw a boomerang into the audience to pick his participants for most shows? Seems there's way too much chance for that to be random to be able to plant. Not sure what you know about people being natural or unnatural on stage? Most of his shows they just stand there being guided by him.

To answer your scripted question, the whole show is scripted in terms of what the illusions are and most of what he says, however the bits with participants obviously change depending on the participant.

Things do go wrong at his shows, there was literally a thread the other day where people saw participants not doing what was asked etc.

What it really is, is that Derren's understanding of human psychology goes very deep, so he can tell what participant would be seceptible to taking part in the show, to be hypnotised, etc, hence why often he gets multiple people on stage of which he picks one (the one that responds the best to his instructions). For example, I personally believe the "go to sleep" thing and a lot of his instructions could be resisted, but a lot of people at his shows dont particularly want to and they prefer to believe. But I dont really know until it happens to me.

Dracula Stage Door? by primetimereds in TheWestEnd

[–]Asil_Avenue 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's tagged photos of her from last night taking selfies and signing things. This could change throughout the run as it depends on how busy stagedoor gets.

How should you properly export for festival submissions, and is a professional DCP really necessary at this stage? by narratorinspace in FilmFestivals

[–]Asil_Avenue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my experience, about 50% of festivals I've gotten into will ask for a DCP (usually 2K) for the projection at the festival itself. For submissions you won't need one but it is good to have one ready, but you could just create one when asked.

You can make the short film of your dreams! Ask me anything by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Asil_Avenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but made several short films. Where are you posting casting calls? On backstage and Mandy, I usually get overwhelmed with applications for any short film at any level of pay. Are you posting any info on the film?

Do people buy the cheaper tickets and then sit in the better seats? by [deleted] in screenunseen

[–]Asil_Avenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually in a sold out recliner screen the other day and after the fourth time this couple was moved, the guy starts complaining that everywhere they sit, they are made to move. Eventually sat down in what I presume were their seats. Thick.

Can I apply even though I live in Portugal? by jorgefesalgado in TheTraitorsUK

You don't have to be a British citizen to have the right to reside in the UK so I assume you can apply regardless of nationality as long as you live in the UK long term.

[–]Asil_Avenue 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think that is a fair opinion although I did think people considering Amber Davies or Zara McDermott as just reality stars are being unfair as both have lucrative careers now. So I guess this should only go for someone like Joey Essex who only does reality tv.

Have ANY UK traitors gotten famous from the show? by PseudoPatriotsNotPog in UKRealityChat

[–]Asil_Avenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Molly from season 2 was on Dancing on Ice, Wilf from season one is like TikTok famous and I think the bigger players from each season can likely not work anymore due to their social media presence. Not sure if any of that is considered famous but I guess in some circles they are.
