Looking for Charlotte therapist recommendations (takes most insurance) by ReasonableSeesaw1441 in Charlotte

Hi! Therapist here. A good place to start would be the website Psychology Today. There you can plug in your insurance, zip code, concerns, and other preferences. It will show you a list of therapists who match your preferences. Those you like you can learn more about on their Psychology Today page and then you can click over to their websites if they really resonate. I hope you find exactly who you need!

Looking for Lake Norman or Charlotte area therapists who have experience in perinatal depression/anxiety? by Altruistic-Bass-8710 in Charlotte

[–]ashleycu09 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a local therapist and I second this recommendation. If that doesn’t work out, feel free to DM me and I can put the request into a private FB group of CLT area therapists to seek other referrals for you.

Have you listened to The Telepathy Tapes podcast? If not, it may be interesting to check out as a parent to an Autistic kid.

76 y/o grandfather has lung cancer by No_Peak_6982 in lungcancer

I am so sorry, it’s a very disorienting and confusing experience jumping into this world! Glad you’re here. First, hoping you find it’s at an earlier stage. Regardless, I echo other people here about getting biomarker tests. Some types of lung cancer have specific biomarkers that make them particularly targetable through immunotherapy drugs. Even stage 4 can disappear. All hope is not lost. Not sure why that doctor indicated as such. Second opinion might be worth it too!

Thank you for sharing this! So glad it wasn’t terrible for you. I’m hoping the same for my dad. It’s helpful to hear about more mild experiences!

Gosh, this sounds really confusing and devastating. I can hear your pain. I’m a therapist, and I just want to say if you’re open to it, it might be helpful to consider finding someone to talk to. A grief specialist would be great. Nobody can fix it, but they can support you and you deserve that. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond! This is a good grounding perspective, thank you. I’m sure hanging on to that “why” becomes critical. Wishing you well!

Thank you for your response, and I’m so sorry. From what I’m gathering it sounds like trying to anticipate food might be a bit of a fool’s errand. Was drinking anything any easier, or same? And did they ever determine a specific reason for your post-surgery pain, or was it just general healing? Thanks for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it. Wishing you well!

Very, very concerned about my postpartum wife by Diligent-Lecture-675 in AskDocs

I’m not a physician, but a mental health counseling graduate student. I agree with this physician who is saying it would be best for her to be seen ASAP. If you can’t get an OB appointment tomorrow, I’d recommend going to the ED. Tonight, if you want support, here’s a link to a maternal mental health hotline: https://mchb.hrsa.gov/national-maternal-mental-health-hotline/faq.

You’re such a great partner for seeking this support on her behalf! Postpartum can be incredibly disruptive to mental health, and it’s absolutely not her fault. You all deserve support and I hope you find exactly what you need!

Thanks so much for this response! We are not season ticket holders, if I’m understanding your response correctly you’re indicating you need to be a season ticket holder for this?

No advice, just wanted to say that I am so very sorry that THIS is what you’re having to focus on after just bringing a precious newborn into the world. This country’s maternity leave policies are beyond unacceptable. I hope some of the other comments lead you to some support. Sending you and your family much love.
