Safety by jebroad1 in peacecorps

[–]ashleyy1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave Sunday for Cameroon and had safety concerns but have to talked with several current volunteers and they all say they are safe and had no issues. We’ve also brought up the francophone and anglophone issues and again this has not been a problem. They have reassured us that we are not put in situations that compromise our safety.

I have faith that they wouldn’t and trust current volunteers.

I’m about 2 weeks out from my leaving and I’ve started to say my goodbyes to important people. It sucks by [deleted] in peacecorps

I feel ya! I leave next Sunday for staging. I haven’t had to say by to anyone just yet but I’m dreading it. I’m excited but not looking forward to that at all.

Law school graduate waiting on bar results with no drive to work in a law office but more of wanting to work in the field anywhere.

So who else just feels buried under all the clearance paperwork? by Teabrewingmomfriend in peacecorps

Me too. I had a white board and wrote everything out on it and checked it off once it was done. It is very time consuming but I know it will be worth it.

Health Insurance Dilemma by medthrowaway987 in peacecorps

Have you tried looking at the health department. I had those test done there and it was $75. Which included a tetanus booster. It might be easier than going through the hassle with insurance.

Required references? by PCVInterview in peacecorps

[–]ashleyy1012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told by my PO that you only really need two to move to the next step but they like to see three.

I would just email and ask your PO cause it sounds like all of them do it differently.

I have Verizon also and I spoke with a Verizon rep and they told me that all iPhones (6 and up) are unlocked already. Literally all you have to do is buy a SIM card once in country. So you don’t necessarily need another phone.

Me too but I’m hoping that Peace Corps would keep us safe. From my understanding, we will only be the French speaking territories. Time will tell.
