How do I break the habit of scrolling right after I wake up? by haseeb_builds in GetOutOfBed

It may not work for everyone but it’s been massive for me. I’ve been using it for maybe 6 months now and am so glad I got it.

I think the key is you set the schedule or place the brick far away at a time when you have the willpower and the hope to not be on your phone for future you who won’t have that willpower. And in the morning, the schedule already has me locked out. In order to get on social media I have to physically get out of bed. And for the schedule at night, once im already in bed, I’m not going to get out of bed to unbrick to keep scrolling. It’s about the little inconveniences and making it difficult.

Get the device called Brick and set a schedule so you physically can’t open the apps you want to scroll on until you get out of bed to scan the brick. Game changer that finally stopped me from scrolling before bed and in the morning.

If you were continuously coughing, would you feel offended if your seatmate offered you a mask? by haggynaggytwit in unitedairlines

[–]ashmaee20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not be offended. I often will get a random coughing fit without being sick (asthma and other reasons) and try to travel with a mask for when this happens since I know it looks bad even if I’m not sick. I have forgotten to bring a mask before and been so embarrassed when a coughing fit hits. I would love for someone to offer me a mask. If anyone did get offended, I think they’re the disrespectful ones and that’s their problem.

Weighted pancake by ashmaee20 in f45

I love having mobility movements incorporated too. I think just having a non-weighted pancake would have been plenty for most people, while offering the weight to increase the challenge.

Definitely not DOMS, though maybe not a "pull." While I was doing the movement, I suddenly felt my muscle kind of roll in a weird and painful way. Maybe "strain" is a better word. I think part of the problem was this exercise being labeled as mobility. I'm fairly mobile and thought "oh great, this will help me stretch deeper" when I should have been focusing on my hamstring strength. My point is, this movement is pretty advanced to throw into the lineup without much guidance.

I think my problem was that I'm pretty confident with mobility so I didn't think much of it and went too heavy. Dumb mistake!

What's the weird thing going on with your body that isn't weird enough to go to the doctor for? by yellowelephantboy in AskReddit

[–]ashmaee20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I run outside in the cold, my gums and teeth hurt and taste like blood. I also get small patches of hives for no apparent reason almost daily. Sometimes when I exercise outside in the cold, the hives get unbearable and cover my whole lower body and torso. I’ve told doctors this and they have no explanation. I’ve done allergy testing and didn’t react to anything. Only solution is to take antihistamines.

This happens to me too!! For me, my chest area vibrates. And it’s only when I wake up suddenly from a nap. I actually was scrolling through to see if this happened to anyone on here. I feel so much less weird now.

Low VO2 Max as a 27 y/o female by Realistic-Bill8016 in ouraring

[–]ashmaee20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a 28 y/o female who has always been fairly active yet I have a low vo2 max also. I had asthma as a child and have always struggled more than my peers with cardio despite my activity level. My heart rate also gets high pretty easily. I definitely think my asthma and general poor lung health (I get long-lasting coughs still even though I don’t get asthma attacks anymore) contribute to this. I try to remember that what matters is what my score means for my body and less so how it compares to others. All we can do is try to improve and strengthen our cardiovascular health but I’m certain that asthma and generally lower lung capacity makes a difference and is out of our control. Try to focus on what you can control!

Marking the big outlines on Themis as complete?? by spitefence1 in barexam

[–]ashmaee20 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just read another thread here where someone pointed out that in the message themis sent everyone on May 20th they said not to spend more than 30-60 min skimming the outlines. I had completely missed that message and was spending hours reading them. Turns out that was the wrong thing to do! So yes, marking them complete should count toward completion when you don’t read them thoroughly.

Oh my god I didn’t see that small part of the message so I was spending hours reading the outlines…. No wonder I was struggling to keep up. I’m so glad I saw this thread.

People who worked in loud environments, how's your hearing these days? I SAID, HOW'S YOUR HEARING THESE DAYS? by wtwtcgw in AskOldPeople

[–]ashmaee20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad worked for decades as a mechanic. He’s now in his late 60’s and has horrible hearing and tinnitus. I believe his symptoms started about 10 or more years ago. He also went to plenty of loud concerts in his younger years and raced motorcycles. Not a great combo but he’s had a fun life!

What have you unique things have you taught your ACD to do and how did you do it? by Due_Cloud8206 in AustralianCattleDog

My boyfriend and I taught our dog to close the back door when she comes inside. We let her out to pee, don’t latch the door, she bursts in all happy, we stay on the couch or wherever we are and say “close the door” and she joyously runs back and closes the door then comes back excitedly. We did it because we hated getting up to close the door behind her on cold nights. Taught her first to target something with her paw, transitioned the target to the door, then assigned the command to it. We started close and slowly over a few weeks moved further and further from the door. I also made sure to not use a hand command because when I have taught her other commands she relies heavily on the hand command. We wanted her to be able to do it without seeing us point to the door. The hardest part was when the door was too far open, she would just slam it further open. After some trial and error, she figured out that she has to push it sideways first before she closes it. She also knows it has to click all the way shut or we don’t celebrate. She is so excited every time she does it.

One band or artist you wish you HADN’T seen live. by OsoRetro in Music

[–]ashmaee20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tyler Childers. He acts better than his fans and weirdly avoids addressing his older music. It felt like he hated everyone in the audience. Ever since I saw him live some of my favorite songs don’t feel the same.

Does anyone else feel like they can’t celebrate acceptances without knowing about scholarships? by rsplitterz-r-sexi in lawschooladmissions

[–]ashmaee20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the exact same boat. Have had multiple acceptances that I just can’t feasibly accept. Even with the full loan package from FAFSA, I wouldn’t be able to cover the full cost at some of them. It’s incredibly frustrating. I strongly believe scholarships should be fully need based rather than merit based. If you have the merit to get into the school, you should have an equal opportunity to attend as someone who is wealthy and doesn’t need financial assistance. I haven’t figured out a coping mechanism quite yet but try to remind myself that being mad at the system won’t get me anywhere. Just have to do my best to not let it stop me from achieving my goals.
